@alexzirbel solution - take the best from both and use any icon set with unique silhouettes

@alexzirbel No 😁 Agree that emojis are overused and feel ai-ish, but they have uniq quickly recognizable shape that icons as squares is missing. So it's harder to tell them apart at a glance

Recently switched from emojis -> symbol+color for categories Emojis in UI are overused and it's hard to make them look classy

All the prep for @sfrubyconf got us feeling nostalgic. We miss our Ruby friends and can't wait to see everyone again this November.

The role of conferences and events is changing. Events should carefully engineer and facilitate people's productive connections and networking . As @sfrubyconf org team, here's what we do: - we collect full intros, with links, during each ticket sale - we design smaller groups, 50-70 people, that run in parallel with the main event, using those intros to connect people by interests: - Example 1. Performance&scale-oriented engineers with teams from scaleups like Gusto, Chime, Persona in one room (hiring purposes) - Example 2. Early stage/founding engineers together with early teams in another (hiring purposes) - Example 3. Founding teams of ambitious Ruby startups with @garrytan in another (strategy and fundraising-related purposes) - Example 4. Groups focused on open source, frontend, AI tooling and so on (collaboration purposes) - we force everyone in that smaller group to take a mic for 60 seconds and introduce themselves. We flip the table and bring you on stage. Why? It helps you connect! We do more, and here's really where my head is, this year. Early bird tickets go on sale on July 15! sfruby.com

@marckohlbrugge @cursor_ai good point, mb it's a part of the "do one thing, but do it great" theme (as non-ide's like @conductor_build have this built in)? you could also ask your agent to track all tasks with Linear mcp (which also not trying to be ide or manage agents //yet)

It's surprising to me that every developer is making their own "kanban to manage agents" but none of the major IDEs (@cursor_ai etc) have this UI built-in

Using AI for coding new features helps you move fast and meet users' expectations as you scale. @currents_dev grew with a small team of strong engineers but no designer. So they made minor design decisions on the spot, introducing new fonts, icons, and buttons on each build. With a solid user base, our client decided it was time to redesign the UI and build a design system that maintained a high-quality standard. This is the story of how we did it. evilmartians.com/chronicles/bui…

Save the date, mark your calendars, and decline the invite to the All Hands meeting! The second edition of @sfrubyconf is happening Nov 10-12. Our first confirmed keynote speaker is @garrytan, president and CEO of Y Combinator and longtime Rails builder. Ruby on Rails is the common ingredient in success stories like Shopify and GitHub. Last year, we brought together the people building with Rails and the companies shaping its future. This year, we're doing it again in the home to some of Rails' biggest wins. Be the first to know when tickets go live and get early-bird prices: sfruby.com/conference-202…

Sending reports back to @conductor_build to be helpful, but they're not helping me get on the Cloud beta :(

@marckohlbrugge Tahoe lowered the bar, but I have to say, the Raycast team did a really good job there

Trying Raycast v2 beta… Had my reservations about their non-native implementation, but honestly it looks better than Apple's native UI in some regards. Look at those ugly back/forward buttons in the native Settings screen. Raycast on the other hand, does it properly.

I created a fun little tmux manager in bash. Uses zoxide piped to fzf for fuzzy finding. when you have active tmux sessions, those appear at the top of the list. just type `tm` and I can fuzzy find / launch tmux sessions with ease! bash is fun!

@fatih Wow It's grind size, time/yield ratios you're experimenting with? do you portion out all those for the entire next week?

Pretty solid tbh - best part is it doesn’t have that AI-generated page vibe - I’d cut the screenshot animations (use short gifs/videos instead if you want some movement) - remove rounded corners + soft shadows, keep it more square/brutal (old DOS vibe maybe) - say it’s open source (!) and make the gh link more visible - put install commands somewhere near the bottom too - remove the repetitive 'alpha' tag from the first screen - macOS logo looks strange 😂
