@0x_onigiri JPYC is supposed to be an alternative to banks, but ERC-20 contracts that’s require approval is also a bank. @jpyc_official needs to issue on Sui ASAP.

Announcing another open source project from Imaji Labs! Living in Japan, we have to deal with earthquakes on a weekly basis. Most are small, but the constant risk makes it valuable to have a neutral, authenticated record of what happened, where it happened, how strong it was, and when it was reported. Today we open sourced jma-seismic-oracle. It's a Sui oracle that turns Japan Meteorological Agency earthquake reports into authenticated on-chain events, verified with Nautilus. Beyond the earthquake insurance case study we’re building, these attestations can trigger emergency workflows, infrastructure monitoring, regional risk systems, prediction market resolution, supply-chain contingencies, and any product that needs a tamper-evident seismic event on Sui. At Basecamp in Paris, @EvanWeb3 talked about Sui being a coordination layer. While coordination digital workflows is cool, I think there's something even cooler about coordinating physical infrastructure as well. We'll be exploring this area in the coming months with Sui-aware embedded devices, so stay tuned. Check out the repo below! github.com/imajilabs/jma-…

@bubuBUTASAN_sui Yes, it's usable with Nautilus. There are instructions on how to deploy an EC2 instance with Nitro enclave. The testnet transaction was generated with a temporary EC2 instance running the Nitro image.

Confidential transfers might be the most important tbh. If a salaryman likes going to pachinko after work, he should be able to keep it a secret.
BL@_smbrian

5 reasons why @jpyc_official should add @SuiNetwork support. - Free stablecoin transfers. Users can transact at small businesses for free, no gas required. - Confidential transfers at the protocol level is in the works. - Sui’s object model allows for next-gen products to be built on top of the Japanese Yen. - Nautilus makes it easy for JPYC on Sui to interact with offchain APIs - very important for legacy -> blockchain transition. - JPYC can be @CodaNetwork’s exclusive Yen stablecoin. Japan has a huge music scene. Imagine when JPYC becomes the Japanese music industry’s stablecoin of choice.

@bubuBUTASAN_sui Sure, I think the Walrus part is super important, and also deriving the onchain object ID from the quake's offchain ID for easy discoverability.

@_smbrian This is super interesting! For Sonari’s MVP, we’ve been using USGS to support earthquakes outside Japan too, but JMA support was on our roadmap for domestic use cases. This will be a great reference for us, and we may borrow or fork parts of it if that’s okay!

@TedPillows Doesn’t all that actually make SUI as a token less important/valuable?

SUI removed one of the biggest friction points in crypto. Soon stablecoin transfers on Sui cost $0 in gas fees, and users no longer need to hold SUI tokens just to send money. This is a huge step toward making on-chain payments feel as simple as normal fintech apps. Looking at the $SUI chart, it has reclaimed the 20D SMA while the RSI uptrend is still intact. If $1.05-$1.07 level holds, SUI could have another rally here.

Btw, @WalrusProtocol plays an important role here as well. The oracle does not just publish “an earthquake happened” to Sui. It also anchors the raw JMA XML source report behind the attestation. Walrus gives us a deterministic content id for that XML, so anyone can fetch the report, recompute the blob id and SHA-256 hash, parse the JMA data, and verify it matches the on-chain seismic event. That makes the attestation much more useful: the on-chain event stays small, but the full source document remains independently inspectable. For seismic oracles, that matters. Downstream systems should not have to trust our parser blindly; they should be able to verify the original JMA report themselves.

Pulled Argonaut from our nautilus-ts repo, made some improvements, ran benchmarks on a live EC2 instance, and pushed it to its own repo. For those who don't know, Argonaut is a single static Go binary for AWS Nitro Enclaves that handles VSOCK<>TCP bridging, boot-time config delivery, and NSM attestation/RNG access. It replaces the usual mix of vsock-proxy, Python forwarders, config glue, and per-language NSM bindings with one small runtime companion that works for any Nautilus application. github.com/unconfirmedlab…

As a resident of Japan, I'm incentivized to make positive contributions to society. Thus, I'm forming Imaji Labs here in Japan with the goal of exploring how Sui could be used to coordinate society. We will publish quarterly case studies targeting different areas of Japanese society, and hope to provide consultancy services to other businesses in Japan as well. Since stablecoin issuance seems like the current hop topic thanks to @noritaka_okabe's JPYC, we've put together a repo showcasing how am agentic stablecoin issuance could look like on Sui. Over the next few months, we'll also be publishing case studies with fully open source codebases that explore autonomous railway coordination and preserving first-response earthquake insurance. github.com/imajilabs/suito
