Korra gets every element with little effort, including metal bending, but struggled with Air bending only to get it for free
I don't understand how it wasn't a longer running plot when it would've made her character better.

Aang can’t metalbend because of his earthbending style, not because he doesn’t see the need.metalbending requires a very grounded, stubborn mindset, and Aang struggles with earth for that exact reason. it’s about philosophy, not preference and Korra being ‘reckless’ ignores that she’s formally trained in all four elements from childhood. she uses them fluidly because that’s literally her strength. there’s no fixed ‘order’ rule in combat, Avatars use what works in the moment.
Also calling Aang the first after Wan to get energybending like it’s a reward for being nice is wild 😭 he gets it because he’s about to face Ozai and needs a way to win without killing. that’s circumstance, not a moral achievement badge.

The Red Lotus had their own combustion bender plus Zaheer, Plus, Ming Hua and Ghazan. Aang's team would've been cooked
