I'll never understand why people find it hard to say thank you.
That was how I referred two people for a paid project last year.
From start to finish, not even an "Eki, you tried oh."
Some people lack basic appreciation skills.
No matter how small, say thank you!

My colleague recently helped her friend secure a job here in Aba. She put in effort, spoke to people, and made sure everything worked out. Her friend got a job, resumed work, settled in, and has now been working for over a month. Since she started, she hasn’t called. Not even once. No check-in, unless my colleague reaches out to her, no “thank you,” not even a simple attempt to see the person who helped her get a job. My colleague feels hurt. Not because she expects payment or rewards, but because she expects basic appreciation. Now she’s beginning to regret ever helping in the first place. I tried to calm her down. I told her maybe her friend is still adjusting to the new environment, trying to find her balance. But deep down, her friend is very ungrateful. Truth is, helping people is a good thing, but not everyone values what you do for them. Some will receive your help, move on, and act like you never existed. Have you ever helped someone who acted like you did nothing for them?

I was interviewing some ladies for a front desk role for a client.
This was in the conference room, and I sat at the far end, so there was a wide space between me and the candidate.
As I was asking one lady questions, she was visibly shaking. I told her to calm down and step outside if that would help her relax and answer questions well.
Immediately she stood up, her trousers fell from her waist to her knees. Two of my colleagues I had earlier invited to join me opened the door at that same moment.
They looked at me, and the lady was standing there, confused with just pants.
I had to shout, “What’s going on here?”
She said when she sat down, her trousers were too tight, so she unbuttoned them. She forgot when she stood up because she was tense.
I have recruited over 700 staff, I have stories to tell.
