Father of 3. Firm belief that society, like a chain, is only as strong as it’s weakest link. Raise from the bottom & all are better off.

@DavidCrisafulli Firing public servants of all varieties- we’ve seen it all before. Can’t say much except hard on crime - which the stats don’t support and throwing kids in jail - the LNP single handed lay responsible for creating generations of career crims with this policy. Same playbook as NT

We back our frontline health workers. That’s why we’ll put one on every single hospital board across our State. It’s all part of the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.

At the halfway point of the season, Reece Walsh has sustained two head injuries. Both from foul play. At this rate, over what should be a long career, he’ll sustain dozens. This is alarming. Again, the penalties for foul play must act as an adequate deterrent.

@sc_cowsandguns @Martin_Lang11 Spot on. Defenders responsibility to adjust to the circumstances. Slipping or otherwise, if he aimed lower (and used his arms) wouldn’t be here talking about it

@Martin_Lang11 The Rugby Union rule of maximum nipple height would be a wise addition. If Joey had aimed below nipple height, Walsh's falling would not have been such an issue, as the contact would still be below head height.

@Martin_Lang11 The Suaalii tackle was an accident, big hit gone wrong. I thought 4 weeks was sufficient.

@Martin_Lang11 Walsh will cut his own career short with off field indiscretions. This will help him with long term concussion symptoms or CTE.

@cmt129 @Martin_Lang11 Maybe they say, if the line for the tackle is that fine, maybe we line up a little bit lower….

@Martin_Lang11 I understand your point but his first concussion was a head clash and his second , he slipped . What is the defender to do ? He can’t disappear as they say . Do they just say “we can’t try to tackle him , we just have to let him score”?

@Mr_Armageddon1 @Martin_Lang11 Key sentence is the last decade. People do care about player outcomes, hence the attitude. Take your NSW hat off for a second

@Martin_Lang11 Why is it an issue for Walsh but when the exact same thing happens to other stars over the last decade nobody has ever said a word about it? Can't be taken seriously when you only care if it happens to certain players rather than everybody.

@motrsprtfann @GoldnStaff26 @Martin_Lang11 The whole point of the game is evasion of the tackle - if you can’t tackle safely, pay the consequences, it’s like asking Brett Lee to bowl slower because his Yorker is hurt someone’s toe. Self-preservation shouldn’t have to come into it

@Longy_27 @Martin_Lang11 Classic victim blaming response - the victim needs to change to avoid the result as opposed to the aggressor. As the defender, if you are going in and there’s not much in it, it’s on you to adjust. The whole point of the game is evading tackles

Our Mum’s Cafe is a Townsville institution but rising costs have put Steve’s small business under pressure. His electricity bills have nearly doubled. Insurance prices have gone through the roof. Labor’s chaos and crisis has driven up prices for small business owners.

Anthony Albanese promised cheaper electricity and cheaper mortgages. Yet under Labor power bills are up 18% and mortgages have gone up 12 times. Labor said they could manage the economy instead we are all paying the price. Prime Minister why are you leaving Australians behind?

It’s a new dawn alright. An emboldened hard-right of the Liberal Party are taking a “define woman” motion to State Council. The motion acts as a weapon and a wedge. The weapon is targeted at two foes: John Pesutto and Rochelle Pattison. The wedge to smoke out supporters. 🧵
Aaron Smith@aaronsmith

It's the Vic Liberal State Council meeting, and there's a motion that goes to core Liberal business: 'Culture wars & infighting'. Among the supporters, I see the name of a previous Liberal candidate forced to resign after calling Tim Wilson a 'notorious homosexual'.

@Matt_Camenzuli @DavidPocock Haha- Abbott. 3 Lib PMs in a row who rank as arguably the worst PMs ever. Libs are a prime example Of corporate capture. And where ideology trumps pragmatism and decent centrist policy

@_themacdaddy_ @DavidPocock Were they though? I mean just because the Liberals say they are against red tape, does not mean they did a thing about it. The argument is more one of authenticity, Libs started well under Abbott and then became what was essentially a bad Labor Government.

Something has gone seriously wrong when we have supermarkets, banks and resource companies posting record profits while Australians face a cost-of-living crisis. We need our politicians to have the courage to take on tough debates on tax reform. afr.com/policy/economy…
