Last Monday was my last day at Deno. It was a privilege to work with such talented colleagues. The standard library has been my passion for years. I've reviewed all PRs since 2023 and learned a lot from them. Proud to see it often mentioned as one of the best parts of Deno.

My husband said in his sleep, "Buenos días, sucker" and then continued to snore, now taking suggestions on what he's dreaming about

Another weird terminology question. What's the opposite of a 'generic' type or function? 'Normal'? 'Non-generic'?

@Sirupsen The capital gains tax changes in no way negate the tax credits for SRED, not to mention that there is no evidence that higher capital gains tax somehow slows down innovation. This is a good change for Canada and Canadians.

Re: Tech Entrepreneurship in Canada and the increase in capital gains tax problem is the IMMENSE pressure to incorporate tech startups in Delaware What tips the scales to Canada is SRED (AFAICT). Be careful 🇨🇦

* Higher capital gains taxes past $250k * Converting empty offices into residences * More student housing * Carbon rebates for small businesses The 2024 Canada federal budget is seriously good. cbc.ca/news/politics/…

@harleyf What are you complaining about?? Capital gains is still taxed way lower than income. The incentive to invest is still there, and for most entrepreneurs and retail investors this won't even show up on their tax burden.

You know what *does* create poverty though? Wealth disparity. Pay your fair share.

Also, historically, public sector employment has been one of the best shelter against poverty, providing jobs and income to people when the private sector could not or would not.

@harleyf Oh stop whining. This will barely make a dent in the ultra-rich's bottom line. This *is* a wealth tax. There is no indication that higher taxes or regulations hinder innovation. Historically we even have examples of the opposite. Pay your fair share.

We need to be doing everything we can to turn Canada into the best place for entrepreneurs to build 🇨🇦 What's proposed in the federal budget will do the complete opposite. Innovators and entrepreneurs will suffer and their success will be penalized -- this is not a wealth tax, it's a tax on innovation and risk taking. Our policy failures are America's gains. At a time when our country is facing critically low productivity and business investment our political leaders are failing our country's entrepreneurs. Please start listening to the people in the arena.

At peak, we were indexing 22 GB/sec of logs and 51.4 GB/sec of metrics data! On top of that we ingested 9 million spans a second of tracing data. We constantly monitor second-to-second data on how production systems are performing.

The mirror image of "why is rent suddenly so high" is "why is rental housing suddenly a great investment". Conveniently, mega-landlords like Blackstone are obligated to truthfully disclose this is in SEC filings and public statements, and they are 100% crystal clear about why:

What the Ruby on Rails guy conveniently ignores is the fact that systemic discrimination is very much a thing and that being "colorblind" effectively works to maintain said systemic discrimination status quo
