It turns out that to get AI into the hands of everyone, you have to rebuild the social network *for humans* in the age of AI.
When Facebook first came out, I was still in high school. On it, an entire school could organise, chat, meet, and actually engage with each other in a shared space. That feeling has been missing for a while now.
What replaces it is not another content feed, but a network of things people build and share with each other. A world of social builders, where apps, agents, and tools move through friendships in the same way posts once did.
Distribution also changes. It is not something you figure out after you build. It is there from the beginning. What you make is immediately usable by the people around you, and it spreads through group chats, classes, and campuses in a much more natural way.
To make this work, you have to go deeper into the infrastructure than most products do. Web, mobile, messaging, email, identity all need to come together so these things can actually live and move between people.
We’re moving from a world where people post, to a world where people build.

Data quality matters way more than fancy architectures. Best model + bad data = garbage results.

When we started @a1baseapi (@ycombinator W25), we knew AI was quickly changing the way we do things.
Chatting with @andrewyan200 from @getathenahq about AI search highlighted how fast: “the internet is moving from "humans searching for information to make human decisions" to "AI searching for information to help humans make decisions."
While we're busy optimizing for Google and social media, AI systems are increasingly becoming the middlemen between information sources and the humans making decisions. Soon, most internet traffic will be AI, not human. That means products must be visible to AI, not just people.
A key takeaway was that AI search is probabilistic, not fixed. Ask ChatGPT or Gemini the same question 10 times, you’ll get 10 different answers citing varied sources. Tracking brand presence across these systems is way trickier than old-school SEO.
At A1Base, we're adapting to this reality by approaching our content creation with both human and AI discovery in mind. But we know we're still at the very beginning of understanding this shift.
