@glcst @tejask Sure, taken extremely liberally, like "faither" as one who has faith. It's conceivable that someone with little command of the language would use this, but it's undeniably not correct and "sounds wrong" to native speakers. Correct would be Gläubiger or Glaubender.

I know the word "Glauber" is not used and would not be found in a dictionary. What I was told - is Germany, by my German friends who I assumed had a good command of German was that the verb "Glauben" means to believe, therefore "Glauber" could liberally be interpreted as believer.

"I don't believe that a person can be religious and intelligent at the same time." This is from a real conversation I had with a former coworker of mine circa 2010. I wasn't the one saying it, but I didn't disagree with it either, and I had my own share of pronunciations. From around 1998 to 2018, I was a committed atheist (with a brief new age transition period), and I truly believed that was the only rational position an intelligent person could hold. I no longer believe that. And being on the other side of it, I acknowledge that in our industry, being hostile to religion is the fashionable thing to do, while obviously understanding that in other professions and historical times, atheists are the outcasts. So when I started thinking about starting a podcast, not wanting to start yet another tech focuses podcast, I decided to focus on this experience instead. This week, I will be starting "The Save File", where I intend to have deep conversations with true believers about their experiences being religious in STEM. I will host it live on X and plan to publish the episodes to Youtube later. My first guest will be @tejask, this Friday, May 31st, at 9 AM ET. Stay tuned!

@glcst @tejask Sorry to have to tell you this: if someone with a rudimentary command of German (i.e. can use a dictionary) told you that Glauber means believer they were probably pranking you. The only use I'm aware of is "Glaubersalz" (Sodium Sulfate, used as a laxative)
