That's it for me on Twitter/X Over 14 years on here as a Gooner, soccer dad curmudgeon, CPL dreamer and L1O fan. Had some good times made by good people. Reddit is where I'm headed... reddit.com/u/phlpw/

@RichBucciarelli @jonjohnson @matt_f90 @Jmizz20 and none of this is measured. None of it is graded against any qualitative or quantitative outcome. It just happens, and so long as it isn't challenged by gov't/members/public/sponsors it persists...

@jonjohnson @matt_f90 @Jmizz20 Yes, and remember, the “standards” are the Canadian National C/B licenses. These courses are taught by “Learning Facilitators” who have almost no actual coaching experience. This is only considered a “standard” here in Canada.

@Futbo1life meanwhile, in Canada, kids in the GTA can't even get a look in the only professional league that has teams that _do_ follow Jurgen's advice...

Good quote by Jurgen. #CANPL should be giving Canada's best 16, 17, 18 year olds 200-300 mins a season My guess is thats a pool of about 60-100 players fighting for thos 32 development spots. Go find those diamonds in the rough and let them show what they have.

“I really like where Inter are headed, Italy doesn’t give a chance to youngsters. In Europe if you’re good at 18 years old you play in the first team, in Italy they send you to Serie C.” 🗣️ Jurgen Klinsmann

@RichBucciarelli you'll never see it because keeping OPDL teams in a bubble keeps it unexposed for the broad failure it is. btw, OPDL kids outside of their May-October OPDL season do play for non-OPDL teams. Parents allow it because they want to win. !@#$% the impact to non-OPDL player dev't

⚽️🇨🇦 Apparently, having youth soccer clubs outside the “Player Development League” compete against clubs in the league is the same as having clubs in the English Championship compete against clubs in the English Premier League. This makes complete sense. ⬇️ Thoughts?

@RichBucciarelli so if a team wins or loses by that gulf does either Association 1) know 2) care 3) know and not care 4) care but not know 5) have iModel standards that are passively enforced and not used to actually improve play across all clubs who are 'iModel'

⚽️🇨🇦 This weekend, I watched my nephew play in a U14 Boys iModel game, where the final score was 18-0. The discrepancy in technical ability, decision making, and fitness between the two teams was enormous, and the scoreline provided ample evidence. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Perhaps a controversial opinion, but youth soccer competitions with this large of a discrepancy between teams, do nothing to benefit either team. @OntarioIsSoccer and @CanadaSoccerEN is this really the best you can do?

⚽️🇨🇦 As a fan, I’ve obtained FIFA World Cup tickets through the standard lottery system, and attended matches in South Africa (2010), Brazil (2014), and Russia (2018), and in multiple cities in Canada for the 2015 Women’s World Cup. There was never any problem that I was aware of which made getting tickets difficult in any way, nor were the tickets very expensive at the time (I believe the most I ever paid was $120 USD). ⬇️ Can somebody please tell me why @CanadaSoccerEN is pushing this cyber-begging program now (other than the obvious desire to get more money from unsuspecting fans)?

@atp_celtic @RichBucciarelli charity-like tax benefits are only granted on national amateur athletic associations. CSA is not that. Its a "non profit" run like an amateur association. That's its biggest problem. It caters to amateur mindsets. It flogs the public, coddles its members and deters investors.

@__RobH__ @DouglasPollitt @RichBucciarelli and even the top level, sure you might get a ticket, but you also aren't guaranteed one from the first ballot. You might wind up getting a lawn chair out on Lakeshore...

@DouglasPollitt @RichBucciarelli If asking specifically for a solution that is fair then I think that's an easy answer. Just do a draw for all available tickets from a single pool. This isn't it Doug. This is called something else:

"Easy to talk when its other people's money. What if it was yours?" Sure. Annihilate pay-to-play in 🇨🇦 and instead open up 🇨🇦⚽️ to Club ⚽️ like they have in 🇪🇺 & Central/South America. Instead of parent-funded, 🇨🇦 goes to transfer-market funded. That's how you get a Györkeres

1/7 So an "update" that includes what the WC ticketing allocation looks like. What they’re calling a "draw" is really just tiered "pay to win" access disguised as fairness. Some verbal gymnastics going on here. #CanMNT #WorldCup2026

@CanadaSoccerEN showing their true stripes yet again. Cheaters and con artists. Liars and grifters. #FIFAWorldCup26 legacy is more bad conduct from the Federation supposedly leading the Nation.

@RichBucciarelli @Jmizz20 @matt_f90 @OntarioIsSoccer The Whole Pay Canada Soccer A Fee To Get A Better Chance Of Getting A Ticket Is Another Indicator We Are Not A Serious Soccer Nation. They Hold The Game Hostage To The Rich And Privileged. It's Supposed To Be A Straight Up Lottery Allocation. Last Straw
