Network Christmas Tree Recap The success of Formosa Gallery’s Domínio Público and the launch of the 6529 Network Museum feels like a good time to reflect on what we accomplished with The Network Christmas Tree. Did we "Do something"? Yes, a lot. x.com/aRegularDad/st…

One of my favorite qualities of great networked art projects is their ability to be static in the moment, but dynamic over time. This is certainly easier said than done, but the ability to create a work that is beautiful now, yet ever changing is what is truly remarkable. This enables a different type of storytelling, one that each individual or node can participate in. @eli_schein recently made a comment “The problem NFTs do not yet solve is how an artwork was created.” This is definitely true for individual tokens, but not the case when you view networked art projects as a whole. The work in its totality is painted and etched onto the blockchain. Great artists like @SamSpratt or @nicedayJules did this breathtakingly with The Masquerade and Birds. Opepen by @visualizevalue and The Memes by @punk6529 have accomplished this by capturing bits of internet culture on an indefinite timeline. IMO, networked art is the ultimate application of crypto art and it is so exciting to see our great stewards leaning into this. Tell a story, keep the story going, and let the world in.

@nathanabauman @Ed_Balloon 9.5 out of 10 of all meme cards are not selling out. The only ones that do are ones that do something new and occasionally a popular artist. The card will change to be the images of photography that wins, so it is a photography card

Second part should be more concise and that’s my bad - Mostly implying that efforts to get photography collected do well, but the collecting of actual photography is not reflected in that same nature. Photographic meme cards fail to sell out 9.5 times out of 10, yet the meme card that is funding the collecting photography is minted out. Mostly just ironic, yet somehow extremely disappointing and saddening. The keys & gates card is net positive and I’m glad it minted out but, yeah, I wish the actual photographic meme cards minted as well as this did.

1/ One thing I really appreciate in the meme/art ecosystem is when people actually try something different. A piece that feels alive, chaotic, fun, and deeply rooted in internet/web3 culture. “6529 Memes at the Boys' Club” is exactly that. 👇

Have you already watched "6529 Memes at the Boys' Club" below? To create it, @pateideias and I: - printed posters of 30 different Meme Cards and pasted them all over @Casa_NUA's bathroom; - had a fine art canvas printed for @boldleonidas' snakes and ladders game and 3D printed the little characters in different colors; - Had custom t-shirts made with the @Vince_Van_Dough Come and Take it meme and my mfer; - made the 3 heads — currently in exhibition at Domínio Publico 6529 — for Sgt Pepe, Andy and Landwolf; - painted ourselves yet again; I took methylene blue for a week to also pee green; - composed an original soundtrack with Renato Navarro, recorded voice and foley in a studio and mixed the sound back in; - mounted the video in the form of the original comic strip. You can currently vote for it at the Main Stage, and when it mints, get a copy! After covering costs, the proceeds will go to fund Casa NUA's Domínio Publico CC0 NFT Art museum.

Implied, but unstated…Displaying the long history of digital art highlights two common misperceptions: 1. NFTs are a temporary fad rather than infrastructure emerging around a decades-old medium. 2. Digital art is fundamentally about speculation rather than art itself.

Re: Art Basel announcement today I think this is 🎯 by @mendezmendez Digital art has been around for decades. The notion that we deserve some sort of special treatment because cryptoart is onchain is absurd It's all digital art; cryptoart is a part of that larger ecosystem IMO it's a big step forward to have them represented together

The Senate Banking Committee released the latest draft of the CLARITY Act last night. The draft has significantly improved since January and reflects years of bipartisan negotiations. It’s time to get this passed. This bill safeguards consumers, includes important developer protections, and gives crypto entrepreneurs the regulatory clarity they need to build here in the U.S. We’re thankful for the hard work of the Senate Banking Committee and their staff. We urge Senators on both sides to move quickly to advance it out of Committee, to the Senate floor, and ultimately be signed into law by the President.
U.S. Senate Banking Committee GOP@BankingGOP

Chairman @SenatorTimScott, @SenLummis, and @SenThomTillis released market structure text ahead of this week’s markup.   The Senate’s CLARITY Act delivers clear rules of the road, protects investors, combats illicit finance, and keeps innovation in America. banking.senate.gov/newsroom/major…

making a living as an artist is always going to be hard as hell. to wake up each day and make whatever YOU want and then have other people pay you money for that. that's an absolute dream and it will always be insanely competitive. but that doesn't mean you can't be an artist. just get a job doing whatever bullshit, and then MAKE ART. this is what i did for the first TWENTY YEARS of my practice. i honestly never thought i would be able to make money directly from the art i was making... i just had to make it because i loved making it. would love to see more focus on creating for the pure love of making art... it's paradoxically the best way to accidently turn it in a paying career. ;)
