11M with refractory epilepsy and hypothalamic hamartoma originally treated with open craniotomy when he was an infant. This was complicated by severe hypothalamic instability, DI, obesity, metabolic syndrome. Seizures returned. Performed LITT to remaining connection using a single 10mm. It's time to remove 'destructive epilepsy surgery' from our lexicon. It inaccurately frames life-changing procedures in a negative light and can deter patients from beneficial treatment options. Let's promote a more constructive and hopeful dialogue around epilepsy care.
