@60sJapanfan The only way to assess this is to take: - Deposit on purchase - Mortgage payments over the years - Maintenance costs over the years - Deduct market rent for all the years Inflation adjust all all of these then compare to selling price

@DanNeidle Why would there be any sign of it had the withholding tax been paid? Surely even if the tax was paid by the REIT on behalf of the shareholders it would just form part of the ‘dividends paid’ figure in the cash flow statement? So there’d be no way to tell for sure

Quidnet should have withheld around £120,000 of income tax from those dividends, and paid it to HMRC. There is, however, no sign of this in the company's accounts:

The deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, owns a property company - Quidnet REIT. From 2020 to 2022 it paid Tice and his trust £600k in dividends. Quidnet should have paid £120k of tax on those dividends. It didn't. A 🧵 with evidence from the company's own filings:

2 tables ➕ 4 chairs 🟰 £££ a year 🤯 Councils call it a 'pavement licence'. Hospitality businesses call it a rip off. We call it a Table Tax. The government should scrap it. If you agree, sign our petition 🔗👇 #ScrapTheTableTax

@DoctorLemma Harrods was a department store, not a shop. Several other facts are also WRONG.

Until 1976, you could walk into a shop in London, England called Harrods and buy a lion, a camel, or an elephant. In 1969, two young Australians named John Rendall and Ace Bourke walked in and bought a three-month-old lion cub. They named him Christian. He lived with them above a furniture shop, played in local gardens, and rode around the city in the back of a convertible. When he outgrew London, they flew him to Kenya, where a conservationist named George Adamson released him into the wild in the Kora National Reserve. A year later, the two men flew back to find him. Adamson warned them Christian was now fully wild and might not remember them. Despite being the head of a wild pride, Christian recognised them immediately and ran to greet them. The reunion was filmed, and the footage has since been viewed over 100 million times. Christian was last seen in early 1973, heading north. He was never seen again.

@GP @KieranMaguire We probably had to sell Anderson then to comply with PSR that season (or specifically the three season period ending with that season). This later sale of the stadium lease makes no difference to previous three year periods

Ayao Komatsu said in a recent podcast that Grosjean's left foot was stuck under the pedal, and he had to get back down into the cockpit, pull his leg in such a manner to get the shoe off (which is not easy to do normally), then get out of the cockpit. If you see the rewinds of him being carried by 2 medics, you can see he only has one boot on. Romain Grosjean’s Bahrain 2020 car at Official F1 exhibition in Oberhausen, Germany.

@DanNeidle Also curious that in each of the last 4 years accounts for his company there were additions to investment properties of varying amounts between 40k and 1.1m which in each year were offset by an equivalent revaluation loss to carry forward 2.2m each year… seems rather odd

More tax nonsense from "influencer" Samuel Leeds. "I just sold my castle. On paper, I lost about £3.5m. But here is the part most people will not understand. It is also a tax write-off... the loss can be set-off against profits" No it isn't, and no you can't. Oh dear.

It’s hardly my job to defend @TiceRichard. But there is nothing wrong with legal tax avoidance. Legal tax avoidance is what you do when you buy an ISA. If you dislike the specific arrangements he had, change the rules. But don’t complain that he was following existing rules.

Getting a Gyrados in the early Pokémon games takes a whole lot more effort imo than the newer games because of having to switch it in and out for experience points from that baby Magikarp fish. We earn that shit and so we respect the Gyrados far more. ❤️😭 #PokemonFireRed

Once again on this morning's run I found out that the level of ignorance on rule 170 (H2) of the Highway Code is widespread. Despite the HC changing in 2022, many drivers in the UK remain unaware that they should yield when pedestrians are either waiting to cross or have 1/2
