We are fighting for access to cheap Russian oil and gas, because without them utility costs in Hungary would triple. 4. Ukraine has now attacked the infrastructure of TurkStream in Russia, which guarantees Hungary’s gas supply. Without TurkStream, Hungary simply cannot be supplied with gas safely from a geographical and physical standpoint. Ukraine’s oil blockade through the Druzhba pipeline and this strike against TurkStream are serious attacks on our sovereignty.

This is why the IOC sat down with him to look for the most respectful way to address his desire to remember his fellow athletes who have lost their lives following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Today I held an almost hour-long phone conversation with the President of the European Council, A. Costa. I fully respect him, but while he spoke about money for the war in Ukraine, I kept repeating the senseless daily killing of hundreds to thousands of Russians and Ukrainians. If for Western Europe the life of a Russian or a Ukrainian is worth shit, I do not want to be part of such a Western Europe. I told A. Costa that I will not support anything, even if we have to sit in Brussels until the New Year, which would lead to support for Ukraine’s military expenditures. I am ready, as Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, to support Ukraine in its reconstruction on the basis of bilateral negotiations between the Slovak and Ukrainian governments, but I reject senseless killing. In this spirit, I sent a letter to the President of the European Council, A. Costa, and to all the prime ministers of the EU member states, which you can read here.

A Russian drone strike hit a kindergarten in Kharkiv – after a massive attack overnight. Unfortunately, one person has been killed – my condolences to the bereaved family. As of now, seven people have been injured and are receiving medical care. All the children have been evacuated and are now in shelters. Preliminary reports indicate that many are showing acute stress reactions. There is no justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten, nor can there ever be. Clearly, Russia is growing more brazen. These strikes are Russia’s spit in the face to everyone who insists on a peaceful resolution. Thugs and terrorists can only be put in their place by force.

Last night, Russia launched one of the largest drone and missile strikes on Ukraine, targeting government buildings and civilian homes alike. Once again, the Kremlin is mocking diplomacy, trampling international law and killing indiscriminately. Europe stands, and will continue to stand, fully behind Ukraine. We are reinforcing Ukraine’s armed forces, building lasting security guarantees, and tightening sanctions to increase pressure on Russia. The killing must end.

🔴 Russia launched the most massive aerial assault on Ukraine since the start of its full-scale invasion. In Kyiv alone, three people were killed, including an infant, and at least 20 were injured.

Another night of terror for Ukraine. Another proof that Russia disregards peace efforts and steps toward ending the war. Kyiv. Kremenchuk. Dnipro. Kryvyi Rih. Zaporizhzhia. Odesa. At least two people killed – a 32-year-old woman and her two-month-old son. More than 20 people were injured. Over 800 drones and missiles launched – a new “anti-record” of Russia’s attempts to kill as many Ukrainians as possible. For the first time since February 24, 2022, Russia damaged the Ukrainian Government building in Kyiv. Instead of reciprocating peace efforts and agreeing to a leaders’ meeting, Putin rejects real diplomacy and seeks to increase the death toll. Each such attack is possible because Russia still has the means to wage this war. Devastating sanctions, maximum pressure, as well as maximum strengthening of Ukraine's capabilities are needed. There is no more time to wait.

Russia escalates its terror against Ukraine and this needs to get a strong response from our allies. For the first time, more than 800 (!) drones and missiles overnight. The greatest cynicism is that these brutal attacks come just as President Trump makes every effort to achieve peace. But instead of reciprocating these efforts and agreeing to a leaders’ meeting, Putin rejects diplomacy and escalates terror. Only pressure on Moscow can end its escalation of terror. The Russian war machine runs on oil and gas revenues. We urge our allies to defund it in order to end the war. Russian terror “anti-records” require strong responses. New severe sanctions on Russia and new strengthening for Ukraine, particularly in air defense. Waiting will not bring results—action is needed now.
