Logging back of twitter in a min. But final memories of Nat include: - Glidergate -@krisnxn ...mate - holding doors open? - the relentless and hopeless optimism about Everton - excited for the new house and defending lurgan - getting into fights with DUP reps - social justice x

Have watched #peppapig this weekend because of the youngest and dear god- if my kids spoke to me the way they spoke to Daddy pig, I’d have major body issues. They’re constantly calling him fat and laughing at home failing at things 😭

On top of the pay uplift, @naomi_long has announced the full £7m of funding needed for Year 1 of the PSNI recruitment plan. We said Alliance would invest in safer communities and put more officers on our streets. That promise has been delivered.

A first from local authorities on these islands. Motion proposed by Alliance Councillor Lauren Gray and seconded by Alliance Councillor Aaron Skinner just passed with no dissent. “That Council will work to rename Prince Andrew Way in Carrickfergus while seeking ways to ensure the important link to the Royal Family is maintained. While Queen Elizabeth II would be a fitting tribute to the late monarch, we would ask officers to bring back a report on the process to rename Prince Andrew Way that includes a mechanism for a public consultation to ensure the people of Carrickfergus have their say.”

I tend to try and ignore what's coming out of the White House at the moment. But I feel today, I must speak out. Despite what the career liar said, there is no evidence supporting a link between taking Tylenol (paracetamol in the UK) and Autism. The rhetoric and the way Autistic People have been described by this White House is also deeply, deeply worrying. Autistic People are not a plague, we are not an epidemic, we are not a disaster. We are people. I have always been a strong backer of anything that I believe will help to improve the quality of life of Autistic People. This isn't it. This isn't even close to it. This is baseless scaremongering, spearheaded by a corrupt clown and a career scam artist in RFK Jr who has spent his entire life making a living from scaring parents and then selling them the "solution" which he so happens to profit from.

Reviewing broader public X interactions between you and mgtruth (spanning months), the pattern holds: she's generally respectful, often citing facts like UN treaties, UK laws, and parliamentary details. Disagreements stem from ideological contrasts (e.g., your support for community initiatives vs. her preference for official systems; vaccine skepticism vs. trust in science). Occasional sarcasm appears, but no consistent disrespect or unfair bias—debates remain civil and evidence-driven.

A Campbell Systematic Review (2008) echoed these findings, analyzing 19 studies (43 evaluations) and concluding that Neighborhood Watch reduced crime by 16–26% in areas with active programs. However, it noted insufficient data to pinpoint why some programs succeeded while others failed, suggesting training and organization as potential factors but not isolating them. ### Vetted and Trained vs. Unvetted and Untrained No studies explicitly compare vetted/trained versus unvetted/untrained groups, but we can infer differences based on program structure: - Vetted and Trained Groups: Organized Neighborhood Watch programs often involve police-led training, leadership (e.g., block captains), and vetting to ensure participants are reliable and avoid vigilantism. Training includes crime prevention techniques, surveillance skills, and legal/ethical guidelines. For example, successful programs like the "Greenwood Community Watch" relied on structured leadership and bi-monthly meetings, leading to measurable crime drops. Such groups benefit from: - Clear communication with law enforcement, improving response times and accuracy. - Reduced risk of overzealous behavior or profiling, as training emphasizes legal boundaries. - Community cohesion, fostering trust and sustained participation. - Unvetted and Untrained Groups: Without formal vetting or training, groups risk inconsistent engagement, misjudgment of threats, or vigilante actions. For instance, a California case highlighted an untrained member confronting a teenager, leading to accusations of profiling. Lack of structure can also reduce police coordination, limiting effectiveness. The 2002 National Institute of Justice report noted that disorganized programs in high-crime areas often fail due to distrust or low participation, suggesting that lack of training and vetting undermines success. ### Critical Assessment - Data Gaps: No direct studies isolate vetting or training as variables. Most research assumes some training, making it hard to quantify the impact of its absence. This gap suggests a need for targeted research. - Socioeconomic Bias: Programs work better in middle-class areas with existing trust, but high-crime areas—where vetting and training could be most critical—struggle to implement them. - Risk of Harm: Untrained groups may escalate situations or misinterpret behaviors, potentially increasing community tension rather than reducing crime. - Publication Bias: Studies showing positive results are more likely to be published, possibly inflating perceived effectiveness. ### Conclusion Vetted and trained community watch groups, as seen in structured Neighborhood Watch programs, are associated with a 16–26% crime reduction, driven by police coordination, clear protocols, and community engagement. Unvetted and untrained groups likely have reduced effectiveness due to disorganization, potential for missteps, and weaker law enforcement ties, though direct data is lacking. The evidence suggests training and vetting are critical for consistent results, but high-crime areas face implementation challenges. For deeper insights, future studies should explicitly compare these group types. If you’d like, I can search for more recent data or specific case studies to refine this further. @AllisonMorris1 @StephenNolan let’s protect women and girls and properly vett, train and support organised community watch groups who liaise with government agencies including the @PSNIBelfast . The statistics prove it works.

@JimGamble_INEQE @BeattieDoug Johnathan Cresswell showed a predilection for strangulation. He had a prison sentence. His “friends” had a welcome home party for him. When he murdered Katie Simpson the police had no record of his previous conviction & ignored every witness who came forward.
