If you woke up tomorrow as @jack and could do anything you wanted with Twitter - products, features, biz model, acquisitions, go wild! - what would you do?
(Note: Don’t say edit button, you’re more creative than that)

@dhh And to be clear, nobody has any hope of reclaiming / rehabilitating the term in the eyes of the public — nor would many even care to

@dhh Hackers are a very distinct subculture and definitely not a synonym for programmer. Society often linguistically associates groups with crimes committed by their members (e.g. the Roma), but it’s not something I endorse

@aarondotrb @palmerj3 @kenwheeler If a company I worked for ever said “you under estimated, so now you must work overtime (paid or unpaid)” I would hand in my notice on the spot. That is not the behaviour of a professional team.

@palmerj3 It’s a lot like HR, in that letting people ignore it today feels like a burden lifted but the long-term effects slowly poison teams.
It’s also fundamentally a resourcing / organizational values question. ICs will never solve those problems unless they can change the org.
English

@palmerj3 There’s also a lot of defeatism out there. A lot of teams are maintaining multiple legacy systems and testing strategies, so any effort to improve things is looked at like a burden.

@dhh Feels like there's two competing visions: the web as a collection of annotated, interconnected documents vs a way to ship byte code around

Rails 6 is going to ship with Webpacker as our default JavaScript bundler. And by default, source maps are going to be turned on in production. Sure, you can turn it off, but I hope you won't. Let's make it easier to learn from others how to build the web. #issuecomment-458216151" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/rails/webpacke…

@brian_armstrong Cool business model for a VPN. The VPN handles payments, keeps customers and homeowners isolated from one another. The homeowner just has to keep their internet up and they get paid. It’s Airbnb for Fios
