AJ Hinch told @MLBNetworkRadio this morning that Tigers will probably split up Tarik Skubal and Framber Valdez in the rotation order at some point after some off-days. They’ll currently back-to-back in the rotation, including tonight and tomorrow vs. Twins at Target Field.

If jahmai doesnt perform he’ll be replaced with any other right handed career triple a guy with decent stats against lefties

@aaronwhat @tigersslab Every good manager plays every guy on his team and puts them in high leverage situations. Jim leyland famously said it wasn’t fair to the bench players to have them sit the bench all year and then expect them to perform later in the season when their number is called

@Yooper_IA Nah sometimes you just let your hottest hitter play, to reward the player for playing well and to help the team win games. You’re giving up at least 2 abs from your best hitter for 1 ab from a guy that would be in AAA for most ball clubs.

My only issue with last night is if you’re going to pursue matchup advantages by having Jones hit for Keith with 2-on and 1-out, I think you gotta then hit McKinstry for Jones a couple of innings later with 1-on and 2-out. I doubt the Cards pull Stanek if you hit for Jones…so you get the platoon advantage with McKinstry. I think in the 8th you empty the bench and let McKinstry get hacks there. It seems like that would be a sensible complimentary move to the choice to hit for Keith earlier. Hinch has Jones there for a reason…you gotta deploy him when a good chance is there. If you hold him back you might never get a better shot later. The question is now…will Jahmai Jones mash lefties like he did last season? Or will he be Andy Ibanez…
