Alberta can succeed inside Canada. A strong vote to stay in Canada this fall will put this question to rest and let us all focus on building the best possible Alberta AND Canada. If a referendum is held on October 19th, I'll be voting to stay. I hope you will too.

I will continue to work every day to persuade Albertans that our best path forward is to stay in Canada and build the strongest possible future together. A strong Alberta AND a strong Canada. The Premier has already proven this works. A pipeline deal. Rolling back the clean electricity regulations. Killing the production cap. And so much more.

I love Alberta. I grew up here. Built my life here. Watched my siblings raise their children here. My family built businesses here. My parents taught at the University of Alberta and helped shape generations of students. My grandfather was awarded the Order of Canada for his contributions to this province and played a role in keeping the Edmonton Oilersfrom leaving Edmonton. I am as Albertan as they come. But I am every bit as proud to be Canadian. So when I see people trying to convince Albertans that our future lies in separation, I reject it completely. Alberta’s strength has never come from walking away. It has come from building, contributing, fighting to be heard, and helping shape this country into something better. I will spend every ounce of energy I have defending federalism, defending Canada, and keeping this beautiful province exactly where it belongs: in Canada.

When the moderates stop running again and start walking away from cabinet, pay attention. Nate Horner. Matt Jones. Rebecca Schulz. These are not fringe figures in the UCP coalition. They represent the pragmatic, institutional, governing wing of conservatism in Alberta. And increasingly, they appear to be heading for the exits. The UCP was built to unite conservatives after years of division. But more and more, it seems interested in governing for only one faction of the movement — and comfortable losing the rest. And as an Albertan, I increasingly don’t see myself reflected in any of our politics anymore.

The Calgary police is asking for the public’s help locating 29-year-old Gagandeep Singh, who is wanted on warrants for kidnapping with a firearm, pointing a firearm, unlawful confinement and assault with a weapon. Police say Singh has connections to Calgary and surrounding areas, as well as Ontario and B.C. He is also identified by tattoos including a woman on his right forearm and a blue and red eagle on his left forearm.
