@sjdedic Yes. Put simply, airdrop farmers cost basis is zero so any price they dump at is in the black. Also all presales are for institutions therefore retail enjoys no upside yet you expect retail to be loyal and build usage of the chain. In the ico days retail enjoyed upside.

I don’t necessarily have hard data to prove this, but one of the theories I’m extremely convinced of is the following: The stupid airdrop-farming meta is probably one of the biggest reasons why all the new launches, and the altcoin market overall, have performed so incredibly badly over the last few years. Sure, there’s a lot more to it: no real revenues, launching tokens way too early, low-float high-FDV launches, extractive parties dumping on you etc. But honestly, why would you expect the retail masses to buy post-TGE when you’ve spent years training them to get exposure with basically zero risk, just by clicking a few buttons or parking a couple of stables somewhere? Everyone keeps talking about bringing back the good old ICO times, but I was there and there was no such thing as a free lunch in 2017. If you were excited about a project and wanted exposure, you had to put your own money in and actually buy it. That natural skin-in-the-game created a completely different dynamic and shaped the way people looked at their bags they actually believed in. Nowadays, 99% of these people will just dump on you and move on to the next opportunity. The project running the airdrop becomes irrelevant the moment the tokens hit wallets. To me it’s the same as those spoiled kids we all knew growing up. The ones whose parents handed them everything. Their connection to those things was completely different from someone who had to work for them, think twice, and earn them. Obviously, this is just one of many issues the market has, but it just hurts because it’s the most unnecessary and the easiest problem to fix. Just build a product people actually want so you don’t have to pay them to use it. Then stop treating your token like some funny money printed out of thin air and start treating it like on-chain equity, and things will change very quickly. Maybe then we’ll finally reach a point where onchain users stop acting like idiotic, absolutely delusional airdrop farmers and start behaving like actual investors again. Hard times require hard measures, but airdrops are cancer for this space. Eventually everyone will understand that fixing this is literally in the best interest of every party involved in this space.
