The Eastern Ghats Mobile Belt is an ancient system underlying much of coastal and interior Odisha. Seismic activity in Koraput centres around a billion year old shear zone that occasionally revives. I remember a similar one in early 2023.

@sreenivasan1930 Not only island. Interior parts of Dandakaranya have also been called Lanka. There are various Lankas spread throughout Peninsular India. However this Lanka is almost certainly a reference to the island nation as it is quite recent.

On chillies, Odia and Bengali use Lonka Morich - probably a reference to Sri Lanka as the early Portuguese trade routes brought chillies via that island. Morich as in Gol Morich continues to be used for indigenous stuff like black peppers (from Sanskrit मरिचं)
