I appreciate that and I don't take it for granted. When each new generation gets steadily worse opportunities with plummetting buying power, and very little hope of retirement for many people - it's okay to notice that. IDK how old you are but my generation was fed a lie about what the American Dream is all about and it's bullshit. This upcoming generation will not own homes mostly. This isn't a meritocracy. Does hard work matter? Yes ofc. But is it enough? Not anymore. And that sucks a bag of dicks. I make pretty good money but my retirement strategy is to die of stress at work in my 50s. How life is compared to Nairobi or Venezuela doesn't make that better.
