A fun project that I got to mostly work on with pen and paper! We looked at the potential for mechanical instabilities when simulating vascular smooth muscle contraction and found potential issues with simple constitutive models: link.springer.com/article/10.100…

In 2024: #Biology conference: This is state-of-art data, from our 2022 paper. #Mechanical engineering conference: This is recent data, from our 2022 paper. #AI/#ML conference: This is old data, from our 2022 paper. Different disciplines, different scales!

@sanjaysub The supporting ecosystem for classical music is like tanpura to a concert, may look like a small side instrument but very important! Thanks for throwing some light on them.

It's December again! The music season is beginning soon and I want to share a note about my Tanpura! I started to learn the violin in 1975 at the age of 7 from Shri V Lakshminarayana. In a short while I was progressing well and then I discovered the wonderful game of street cricket! However, my musical learning did continue and over time I did switch to singing and that has sustained me all my life. In my early years of violin learning, I broke the neck of the violin once unfortunately. My Guru asked me to take the same to the newly opened Saptaswara Musicals in Mylapore to get it repaired. That was my first memory of meeting Mr Lal who got my instrument repaired in no time. Over the years Saptaswara has been my goto for my musical needs, especially strings for my Tambura, replacement parts and so on. Mr Lal has always been available and ready to help out with whatever I needed. Much later, when my son started learning the Guitar, I took him there and Mr Lal immediately sold me a piece signed by Harris Jeyaraj, the music composer! My good friend, late Mr Jega was my mentor in understanding the art of tuning and maintaining the Tambura. I have made a few visits with him also to Saptaswara to choose strings etc. Sometime in 1993, I was away for a concert. Jega uncle called Aarthi from Saptaswara and asked her to come over immediately. There was a new Miraj Tanpura in the store and the sound was just magnificent. He told Aarthi that it would be foolish to not get it for me. At that time the tambura cost Rs 5000! I got back from the concert and found this beautiful specimen standing in my house! Aarthi had actually got it on credit from Mr Lal, of course Jega uncle standing guarantee! I strummed it and knew I had to have it. So there went 3 concerts' income, but a lifetime of musical sound reverberating in my house. The tanpura has had such a long innings with me and been a real second voice to my concerts. After 30 years, the tanpura did suffer recently because of my own oversight. I was very upset and took it to Mr Lal not knowing what to do. He took a look at it and said he would have it ready in a week. It is back and ready to shine in full splendor in the upcoming season. Of course a large part of its success is also due to Rahul Krishna and Swarnarethas who have probably sturmmed it much more than me over the last 25 years! Thanks Mr Lal! My December Season schedule and all ticketing links are updated on sanjaysub.com In case links are not available, please contact the sabhas directly. In case you live outside Chennai and are unable to catch up with the concerts, Sanjay Sabha offers one concert every month online in my YouTube Channel. What a great day! Cleaned two bathrooms, kitchen, decluttered, dusted, polished, vacuumed and washed floors (four floors!), plus laundry. Bagged giveaway stuff. My God, I am a paragon of domestic busy-bee-ism.

@SanandanaYS @CricCrazyJohns 12 tests per year reminds me of monthly test at school! We should also have 2 exams(mid term and final) per year - 6 ODIs (against 6 different teams) in 1 week.

Did I make an itemized family expenditure chart yesterday? I may have. Did it have bar graphs, pie charts, & tables? You bet your ass it did. Is it wise to spend ~5% of your family earnings on just coffee? Perhaps not. Will we cut down on it? You bet your ass we won't.
