You're right, 100% should have added it. Damani picked Noronha in 2004 when DMart had 5 stores. Gave him the room to build the entire operating culture from scratch. It was a 20-year bet on one person in hindsight, and it paid off spectacularly. The interesting question now: Noronha stepped down in January. Anshul Asawa (ex-Unilever) took over Feb 1. Can the system hold without the person who built it? Might write about that next.
