Rivian showcased an early preview of their point to point Level 2 autonomy software and @OOSScot and I got to go for a ride! This video shows the full uncut experience around Palo Alto Rivian decided to go at this the hard way, designing their own hardware, their own vertically integrated software, and defining their own driving characteristics. This approach puts them behind in current vehicle capabilities but *could* pave the way for a bright future of strong driver assistance all the way to their personal L4 goals. Today, it’s fair to say their system is so far behind market leaders that there is a long road ahead and I hope they can achieve their goals in a compressed timeframe.
