"Everyone is so far behind Tesla..." Wow, this means a lot coming from Kyle ! 🙌 Full video on @Out_of_Spec
Kyle Conner@itskyleconner

Rivian showcased an early preview of their point to point Level 2 autonomy software and @OOSScot and I got to go for a ride! This video shows the full uncut experience around Palo Alto Rivian decided to go at this the hard way, designing their own hardware, their own vertically integrated software, and defining their own driving characteristics. This approach puts them behind in current vehicle capabilities but *could* pave the way for a bright future of strong driver assistance all the way to their personal L4 goals. Today, it’s fair to say their system is so far behind market leaders that there is a long road ahead and I hope they can achieve their goals in a compressed timeframe.

Over the last 15 years almost all consumer devices have become a “smart” e.g. vacuums, cameras, phones, fridges, air purifiers, etc. Prediction: by 2032 (7 years from now) everything that’s currently “smart” will be intelligent i.e. running a local general AI model.

My HW4 Performance Model 3 has uploaded 75gb of data back to @Tesla in the last week. They’re obviously interested in something 🤷🏻‍♂️

@niccruzpatane @Tesla use internal camera to detect 'finger turn signal' (a compromise for stalkless vehicles), eg. two fingers extended whilst grasping wheel triggers turn signal ✌️

@JoeNakamoto @Quant_Viv @KonstantinKisin this 👆 seems wild to me most people dont see whats going on here. he opened with a soft dig at cnn, the audience laughs, he realizes this will embarrass his guest (bad ju-ju for a host), so he tries to save face by claiming it was meant sincerely.

That unexpected laugh is one of the best unintentionally funny and telling moments in the history of TV. They know!!! Even Colbert's audience know.

@techAU @elonmusk news doesn't seem like its worth faking... we already knew there was a mandate to demo FSD and we already knew they were seeking international approval for FSD 🤷‍♂️

I was pretty skeptical that this was real (and still have doubts).. Did some comparisons to other leaked emails from @elonmusk and the most suspicious part is the subject link 'FSD 12.5.1' at the top in the grey, it sits unusually high compared to the full screenshot next to it featuring '7000'. The text is always going to be easy to replicate, so definitely doesn't help validate.. The signature line changes, sometimes just Elon, while at other times he goes for Thanks, Elon.. If I had a place a bet, I'd say above 50% this is real, but perhaps the thing that makes me most suspicious is the line about 'supervised FSD worldwide', Musk almost never talks about this. His last comment on the earnings call was that they're working with regulators in Europe, China and 'other countries', which is quite different than saying FSD worldwide - implying all markets where FSD is/was sold (this would include Australia). I'm hopeful, but not sold. Confirmation from Musk would be helpful, although understand this doesn't confirm a timeline and he shouldn't be forced to respond to leaks.

@daanysaeed So your argument is basically “I think people can change sex but not their opinion”? Quite the weak moment you’re having here.

Lucy Zelic’s most powerful moment in sports media was a teary monologue on SBS in 2018 about how it was important to respect people’s identities and call them by their chosen names. There’s a dark irony in her descent into the pits of TERFdom.

@techAU @EvieNetworks seems pretty wild installing charging infrastructure without considering charge port location of the market leader 🤯

Some feedback @EvieNetworks Backing into the spot means the cables don't reach, so forwards it was. The CCS charger on the left wouldn't work, so grabbed the one of the right, which just reached and charging session was underway. These are 150kW split (75kW per plug). Nice location overall, with Opportos, 7/11 and coffee shop nearby (as well as Carl Jr Burger).

BREAKING: Elon Musk says Tesla are seeking regulatory approval in Europe, China and 'other countries' and expects to get it by the end of this year. I really hope Australia is on that list.

So actually @elonmusk bought X not to “own the libs” but because of the infinite depth of his love for his son who was trans’ed by the left. To destroy what destroyed his son, even as his som rejects him. That’s… wow. That’s some kind of love.❤️

@techAU @sydney_ev there was banter earlier in the year regarding the EU adding legal cover for FSD - are you sure australia already has that in place? perhaps there are technical *and* legal roadblocks 🤔

@abonstu @sydney_ev There's no data shared by drive to arrive at that number so I'd take it with a grain of salt. What I can tell you is this is not a regulatory issue.

@HudPeter @marvinliao when 3D printers were all the rage it was easy to extrapolate to replicators; it seems we're better at visualizing the endgame than the (more likely) intermediate impacts

@marvinliao I doubt there will be many white collar jobs left in a decade. Every time I see a large city’s downtown awash with knowledge workers at lunch hour, I’m reminded of the photos of workers pouring out of shipyards a century ago. Automation comes for us all.

@itskyleconner strong parallels with the phone industry prior to iphone. the way you have done things before wont be enough (see nokia, motorola, ericsson, blackberry). software needs to be the core, not just an infotainment afterthought.

Wake up auto industry! You can’t just provide a good car anymore. It needs to be supported after the initial sale with improvements, new functions, and bug fixes. Owners receive an extra boost in confidence knowing they spent a lot of money on a product that’ll be supported for years to come. You could argue, why not just engineer a car perfectly and then never need updates? With constantly changing remote services, new technologies, and changing customer demands a vehicle produced today can still feel modern years into the future if supported properly.
Quinn Nelson@SnazzyLabs

I completely understand, not wanting a touchscreen in your car, but don’t mistake that for the power of OTA updates and a manufacturer that listens to customer feedback.
