The Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (#MAMII) Project training continues with day 3 focusing on sharpening skills for accurate data collection in health facilities across Nigeria. Supervisors and data collectors worked in groups to review tools and ensure clarity, consistency, and reliability in the data that drives maternal and newborn health decisions. This initiative—led by the @NigeriaGov , the @gatesfoundation and key partners—is part of a broader effort to strengthen health systems and save the lives of mothers and babies across the country. #LSTM #MaternalHealth #HealthInnovation #PublicHealth #DataForImpact #MAMIIProject

Ongoing: LSTM Training To help reduce Nigeria’s maternal mortality ratio (#MMR) and newborn mortality rate (#NMR). The @gatesfoundation is supporting the Government of Nigeria ( @NigeriaGov ) through the Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative ( #MAMII ) project. Ahead of the first round of data collection, 33 state supervisors from @NOIPolls are being trained and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (#LSTM) is leading the evaluation of the project’s impact, ensuring data drives results. #MaternalHealth #NewbornHealth #Nigeria #HealthInnovation #LSTM #NOIPollsVoices #PublicHealth #DataForImpact #MAMIIProject

At the 8th AFEMSON Conference, I emphasised the urgent need to address anaemia in pregnancy, mental health, & preterm births. Research must drive personalised care & policy. I was also honoured to hand over to the new President. Grateful to Prof. Olayemi & the LOC. #AFEMSON2025

As we mark the day 2 of the UK-Africa Health Summit 2025, at the Royal College of Physicians, London, we reflect on the inspiring impact the Global Health Workforce Programme (GHWP) 2024 has made in Nigeria’s healthcare system. Partnering with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, healthcare professionals are now equipped with improved skills to enhance maternal and neonatal care, ensuring safer outcomes for mothers and newborns across the country. This documentary highlights the frontline activities of this project, shared dedication of partners, and the proof of investing in healthcare professionals. Watch.
