I’m gonna ruin the fun with facts again. This isn’t new. It’s already been used successfully in multiple countries. Programs like Google’s Verily project release male mosquitoes infected with Wolbachia bacteria. Think of it like the Genophage from Mass Effect. The males don’t bite, don’t spread disease, and basically spend their entire lives trying to get laid (literally me). When they mate with wild females (unlike you), the eggs fail to hatch. Fewer mosquitoes get born, mosquito populations crash, and disease transmission drops with them. Field trials have repeatedly shown 70 to 90%+ reductions in local mosquito populations, along with major decreases in diseases like dengue.
