#JUSTIN #Astrophysics #Thread Scientists have spotted “surprising rapid oscillations of brightness in the jet of a blazar — ‘BL Lac’ — during a strong multi-wavelength outburst in the 2nd half of 2020, which was rich in gamma rays. 1/n Pic: Artist’s image, courtesy: Iris Nieh

Indian astronomers have reported one of the strongest flares from a blazar — BL Lacertae — some 10mn light-years away. Analysis of the flare from this #BlackHole — one of the oldest astronomical objects — can help trace events at different stages of evolution of the Universe.

From the plot, it is clear that the Covid19 peak was detected on 17.09 2020. In the last two months (17 Sep to 17 Nov), active cases were reduced by about 5.71 Lakhs (571K). If this trend follows, India will win over COVID19 by 2020. Data source covid19india.org

@drharshvardhan @Chethan_Dash The attached plot shows, there is decreasing trend in last 2 months if we compare positive cases with respect to 100K tests. It is good news in controlling the COVID19 pandemic. Few red points above the boundary are spikes on a few days.

Through 153 nights, 17 scientists from 9 countries including researchers from @ARIESNainital, under @IndiaDST took 2263 image frames & observed the changes in a very high energy gamma-ray emitting blazar ‘1ES 0806+524’ using seven optical telescopes in Europe and Asia.
