My husband invited his new coworkers over for dinner. When they arrived he introduced me by gesturing at me and saying "this is mrs Smith (didn't even say my name)...the housewife!" I looked at him for a second then I started laughing hysterically. I then told said "no honey I work full time and YES I still act like a housewife when I'm home because you simply can't bother to help". His co workers were staring at him as he tried to laugh and change the subject and ask what they wanted to drink. Dinner went super awkward with him giving me looks and stares. Once the guests left he blew up saying I embarrassed him by laughing like a lunatic and then making the comment I made infront of his new coworks and ruining his image. I told him he was wrong to lie about my status and deny my degree to begin with. He said I could've talked to him about it privately later but not like this, and making his coworkers think he's useless. He stormed off and has been quiet the entire night. Was i out of line?

Both of these things remain true. The year is 1972. Your doctor prescribes Valium. Britain is in the grip of a benzodiazepine wave that will last two decades. The dependency risk is known internally. It is not shared. Your doctor is not lying to you. He was not told either. The year is 1999. Your doctor prescribes Vioxx for your arthritis. It is newer than ibuprofen, well-tolerated, and Merck has a study showing it works. Merck also has internal data suggesting it roughly doubles the risk of heart attack. This data will not reach your doctor for four more years. Fifty thousand people are estimated to have died in the interim. Merck eventually settles for 4.85 billion dollars. No criminal charges are brought. The year is 2002. Your doctor prescribes OxyContin. Purdue Pharma trained its sales representatives to tell doctors the addiction risk was less than one percent. That figure came from a letter, not a study. The letter was about patients with terminal cancer on short-term doses in hospital settings. Your doctor is a GP with a patient who has a bad back. Nobody draws a distinction. Nobody is required to. The year is 2008. Your doctor checks your cholesterol. Your LDL is elevated. You are prescribed a statin. Nobody mentions that the number needed to treat for primary prevention is approximately 250. Nobody mentions that the muscle deterioration you'll notice over the next two years is listed as a rare side effect rather than a documented pattern affecting a meaningful percentage of patients. The trial that informed the prescription was funded by the manufacturer. Now it is today. Your doctor has new guidelines. New studies. New consensus. He is confident. He has always been confident. The confidence has never been the problem. The confidence is, in fact, precisely the problem.

Every student should take for the last three years of high school, along with their parents. It will give them the basis for a game plan that suits the students strengths. Self-awareness!

You have to have a plan on why you're going to college, what you expect of it and what sort of jobs you can get. This boomer got zero guidance from HS counselors and family. They thought since I was "smart" I could figure it out on my own. By the mercy of God, I got to the right school for me and the right career by the time I was a junior and added my primary degree.

Can anyone counsel me on how to approach my brother about not circumcising his baby next month? I’m very anti circumcision becuase I think an adult should be making that choice for themselves and not a baby having its body part cut off but idk how to approach it with him

@jcher78 How do you get to know most people? You sit with them and talk. I guarantee that if you take time to sit and talk to Jesus, with a Bible in front of you, He will begin to reveal himself via the Holy Spirit. It will be organic and unforced and lovely—IF you sincerely want.

You know what bothers me.. I know “about” Jesus but I don’t “know” him. How can I know him? How do I get to truly have a relationship with him? What defines a true relationship? This is what is running through my mind as I sit here drinking my coffee, trying to have a good day

@DschlopesIsBack Sit in the tub of lukewarm water. Read a book until the whole tub is cold. Then sleep under a fan. If your sheets and/or bed coverings are synthetic, try to find something with natural fibers that breathe.
