@tottinge i see this a lot with people who have some setup (usually default ide config in big repo) where building takes ages. you often have to invest a bit to get builds to be snappy in the context you are currently working in.

I finally watched some live stream coding. I was surprised to see that the coders will type a LOT of code before trying it to see if it runs. I didn't expect them to spend 5-10 minutes without trying it or running a checker on it. Is that how you all code? Why?

@ChShersh Types first, no schema language is expressive enough to generate appropriate smart constructors etc so with schema first you immediately have to update the types and then tou are out of sync

If you have a service (e.g. backend) that provides API to be consumed by other entities (e.g. frontend, other services), do you go schema-first and generate types and functions in your language from a schema definition, or do you go types-first and generate a schema from types?

@chris__martin What I've learned about webpack is to not learn webpack. Just use create-react-app or something (although I think that has been deprecated) and trust the magic box.

@ezyang i’d ask ”Would you mind adding a test?”, give pointers on where it should go. it’s often hard to figure out the test structure in a project, so that could be a reason one is not included.

A drive by OSS contribution fixes a bug, but doesn't have a test. On net, is fixing the bug or having tests more important?

@jfischoff this is also my experience, just like a 16 year old it will interpret everything you say in the harshest way it can imagine
