@TrumpDailyPosts Good. I'd be ok with double the tariffs. Europe has been too weak for too long. All because we protect them. And now they have a chance to pay us back for world War 1 and 2 and this is what they do? Make em pay!

Commentary Donald J. Trump Posts From Truth Social
Donald J. Trump Truth Social Post 11:19 AM EST 01.17.26 We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back — World Peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland, and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it. They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently. Only the United States of America, under PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, can play in this game, and very successfully, at that! Nobody will touch this sacred piece of Land, especially since the National Security of the United States, and the World at large, is at stake. On top of everything else, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland have journeyed to Greenland, for purposes unknown. This is a very dangerous situation for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Planet. These Countries, who are playing this very dangerous game, have put a level of risk in play that is not tenable or sustainable. Therefore, it is imperative that, in order to protect Global Peace and Security, strong measures be taken so that this potentially perilous situation end quickly, and without question. Starting on February 1st, 2026, all of the above mentioned Countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland), will be charged a 10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America. On June 1st, 2026, the Tariff will be increased to 25%. This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland. The United States has been trying to do this transaction for over 150 years. Many Presidents have tried, and for good reason, but Denmark has always refused. Now, because of The Golden Dome, and Modern Day Weapons Systems, both Offensive and Defensive, the need to ACQUIRE is especially important. Hundreds of Billions of Dollars are currently being spent on Security Programs having to do with “The Dome,” including for the possible protection of Canada, and this very brilliant, but highly complex system can only work at its maximum potential and efficiency, because of angles, metes, and bounds, if this Land is included in it. The United States of America is immediately open to negotiation with Denmark and/or any of these Countries that have put so much at risk, despite all that we have done for them, including maximum protection, over so many decades. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Convenient that the once great filmmaker who made the worst film of 2025 would also have to namedrop a bunch of other bad 2025 movies from the worst year for movies ever when considering it’ll be the one year he wins an unearned academy award for. Must be brutal to know you won for the shittiest piece of shit in the shittiest year of all time.

PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON says 2025 wasn’t a weak year for movies — names his favorites “EDDINGTON, WEAPONS, BUGONIA, two Linklater films (NOUVELLE VAGUE, BLUE MOON), SENTIMENTAL VALUE, MARTY SUPREME. Whoever complains about movies right now needs to cool it” tinyurl.com/d45wa3pm

@TrungTPhan When has an industry regulated itself effectively and hasn't just repeated the same mistakes?

James Cameron is on Avatar 3 promo tour and has been talking alot AI. I took some notes: > thinks it’ll drop VFX and make more blockbusters economical > will never fully replace human actors > Hollywood has to regulate itself (government reg too blunt) readtrung.com/p/james-camero…

The most prominent example of a film that was financially viable because of generative AI was “Here” by Robert Zemeckis. Starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, it shows a couple living through multiple decades.  The film’s budget was ~$50m and wouldn’t be able to cover traditional process for de-aging: ▫️Make-up: Takes hour to put on and can make actors look 10 years younger (but not 50 as the film requires)  ▫️CGI: Expensive and long (per NYT, “Persuading us that we’re watching Hanks and Wright in their 20s would have required hundreds of VFX artists, tens of millions of dollars and months of postproduction work.”) Zemeckis says “Here” was able to be made in 2024 but not in 2021 (due to CGI costs). Also by using generative AI, Hanks and Wright could act more naturally without thick make-up (or those CGI dots) on their face. The AI effects were done by Metaphysics (the company’s content head is Ed Ulbrich, the former CEO of Digital Domain, James Cameron’s FX firm).  Metaphysics AI tools were particularly useful because of how much video and images there are of Hanks and Wright over the decades (won’t be the case for all actors). Some of those images include 1994’s “Forrest Gump”, which was also directed by Zemeckis starring Hanks and Wright. That banger used a lot of advanced aging effects for the time and won the 1995 Best Visual Effects Oscar. A best case scenario might be instead of a studio spending $200m for a single blockbuster, it could finance and staff up 4 films at $50m (which could reach same visual quality bar using new tech). *** More from NYT: nytimes.com/2024/11/01/mag… “Here” featurette: m.youtube.com/watch?si=64-Vy…
Bearly AI@bearlyai

James Cameron says an opportunity with AI is to make more blockbuster films by cutting “in half” the cost of computer-generated graphics. For him, cost-saving isn’t about “laying off VFX staff” but about “doubling their speed to completion on a given shot.” With AI integrated into VFX workflows, Cameron told Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth in April 2025 that the “cadence [can be] faster and your throughput cycle is faster and artists get to move on and do other cool things.” Cameron joined the board of Stability AI to learn new generative AI tools and figure out how Hollywood can adopt the technology (he obviosuly previously pioneered VFX with The Abyss, Terminator, Avatar and Titanic).

On the day Trump has put an end to the killing in Gaza and secured the return of the hostages, I think it's perfectly reasonable to demand some contrition from the people who think he can never do anything right. Imagine Kamala or Biden were in charge right now?

I'm going to launch a streaming service that only plays NEAR DARK and promises to never stop streaming NEAR DARK. Because this shit is getting ridiculous. It's one of the best vampire movies ever made. And it should absolutely never NOT be streaming.

Having seen the hatred and now violence levelled at Jews outside of Israel in the last two years, I bet he’s no longer an anti-Zionist Jew. By the way, a Jew who calls for the dismantling of the world’s only (tiny) Jewish state, built in the ancestral homeland of the Jews, is bound to have some pretty serious personal issues to contend with. It’s just such a weird stance.

When you read about @oxfamgb's latest Marxist tract, you need to be aware that the preeminent historian of the economy of British India is @RoyHistory1, and he is not messing around when he calls it "mindless illiteracy."
Tirthankar Roy@RoyHistory1

Oxfam joins the display of mindless illiteracy with which leftist activists discuss impact of the British Raj. In a report called “Takers not Makers”, they claim that imperialist Britain “extracted” 85 tr $ from India, adding for drama, “enough to carpet London with 50£ notes”.
