Biggest take away from the Oscars for me is that finding people you love and making art with them is a worthy, integral and noble human pursuit, no matter the odds or outcomes.

Americano Grande! The jam-packed disc for @runningmanmovie drops this week, with a whole lot more of fictional Network series, 'The Americanos'. If you’ve seen the film, you will have seen tantalising clips of an in-movie reality show showing the simple, everyday lives of zillionaire coffee magnates. This footage was the very first thing we shot for the film (Oct 30th, 2024). Even though the actual scene in the script was short, we wrote full pages for it, and then our incredible cast riffed like crazy. What an absolute BLAST to have cameos from (the legend) Debi Mazar, plus killer queens Cat Cohen and Emma Sidi. There’s much more of them all to enjoy. Special shout-outs to Leslie Powell for her infectious cover of the great Holly Johnson solo single, as well as @2FreshCreative for their insanely brilliant title sequence! NSFW!

PROJECT HAIL MARY is an extraordinary achievement. The kind of movie that makes you grateful you’re alive at a point in history in which movies are made. Heartfelt doesn’t begin to describe how genuinely moving it is. Ryan Gosling delivers a performance that should be considered for awards come the end of the year. He brings incredible levity and warmth to a film beautiful in its themes and technical achievements. Greig Fraser’s cinematography is gorgeous, Daniel Pemberton’s score is so moving, and Lord and Miller direct their best movie yet. Destined to be one of the best movies of 2026 #ProjectHailMary

Project Hail Mary is an epic cinematic achievement. Phil Lord and Chris Miller somehow manage to raise the bar once again, delivering what is not only their most ambitious film to date, but arguably their most accomplished. The scope and scale is immense, yet the storytelling remains intimate. I was completely immersed and felt every ounce of emotion, isolation, and anxiety right alongside the characters. Ryan Gosling was the perfect choice for the role of Ryland Grace, delivering an emotional, funny, and poignant performance that reaffirms why he is one of the finest actors working today. Gosling anchors the film with humanity and nuance, making the spectacle feel personal and the stakes so profoundly real. And of course, I couldn’t help but fall in love with Rocky. The bond between him and Grace is the heart and soul of this story. And the film’s ultimate secret weapon is Daniel Pemberton’s score. I rarely use the M word but Project Hail Mary is a masterpiece and very likely a major awards player across the board. #ProjectHailMary

Its a way better multiplex theater than the shitty Burbank AMC but everyone is scared of the parking. What I don't think people know is if you tell them you are seeing a movie you get money back at the theater. No matter how much they charge you its only 5 dollars to park.
Zack Stentz@MuseZack

@la_dorkout The extortionate parking fees keep people away, even though they have the best IMAX screen in the Valley.

The history books quietly bypassed is that Barack Obama, during the most pressure-saturated nights of his presidency, would retreat alone to the Treaty Room on the second floor of the White House residence — not to strategize, not to take calls, but to handwrite personal letters to ten ordinary American citizens every single night, a practice he maintained with almost monastic devotion across all eight years, selecting the letters himself from the 40,000 that arrived daily at the White House, and his longtime correspondence director Fiona Reese confirmed that Obama would often weep privately while reading certain letters, folding them carefully before writing responses so personally detailed and emotionally present that recipients frequently described the experience of receiving them as the most significant moment of their lives, with one Ohio steelworker writing back to say that Obama's letter had physically stopped him from making a decision that would have permanently altered his family's future. What makes this practice almost unbearably moving is the detail that surfaced later — Obama never used a computer for these letters, always a black felt-tip pen, always legal yellow paper first as a draft, always rewritten onto White House stationery by hand a second time, because he believed, as he told historian Doris Kearns Goodwin in a rare private conversation later recounted in her 2018 work, that the physical act of pressing pen to paper forced a quality of attention that typing simply could not replicate, a philosophy rooted in his years as a constitutional law professor at the University of Chicago from 1992 to 2004 where he developed the conviction that democracy only functions when its leaders remain genuinely, uncomfortably close to the specific gravity of individual human suffering rather than processing it from behind the insulating distance of institutions and screens."

Exciting news to share about the various formats you can see Project Hail Mary in cinemas. We shot everything that happens in space (3/4 of the movie) in native 1.43:1 aspect ratio, and everything on earth (1/4) at a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. There are three ways to see the film in IMAX. There will be gorgeous 15-perf 70mm IMAX film prints in the 1.43 aspect ratio at select theaters, and beautifully colorful digital versions at 1.43 or 1.85 depending on the theater. They all look amazing. There also are select theaters showing traditional 5-perf 70mm film prints in a 2.0 aspect ratio which look rich, warm and incredible. The digital versions of the movie were also filmed onto celluloid (using two different film stocks) and rescanned using a “film out” process that our cinematographer Greig Fraser also used on Dune and The Batman, which give a beautiful warmth and natural grain to the visuals. There are other premium large formats in the 2.0 ratio like Dolby Cinema (where the richness of space and the sound are especially amazing), XD with its very large screens and booming audio, 4DX and D-BOX where the seats move along with the visuals and make for an interactive experience, ScreenX, which has side screens with extended footage that give yau an immersive 270 degree view, and more. Or you can go see it at your local independent cinema - the way I saw many of my favorite movies of all time. A lot of great options - but whichever you choose, we highly recommend seeing it on the largest screen with the best sound in your area that you can afford. You will be glad you did. Tickets on sale tomorrow!
