I was director of ops for a restaurant that has “Community Table” in its name. The owners pushed local farm to table ingredients in their branding and talking to guests. One was a chef who had a partnership discount with GFS. Virtually all food came there or Sysco. Less than 1% of the product came from local producers.

His marketing style is based on cringe, yup. Total dork lol Doesn't mean he's wrong. You either want to age better or you don't care and that's ok too. @RationalBlonde I moved across the country for a tech job in 1992.. I found the jobs in the Washington Post (from SoCal) and on Usenet. H1B and related work visas have always been an employer's racket paid for with donations.

H-1B was built in 1990 when your “talent pool” was whoever could drive to your office. There was no Zoom. No remote. Three decades later, that excuse is dead. We’re laying off tech workers en masse. If your pitch is “not one American can do this so we need the visa,” that's not a shortage, that's a discount.

It does seem that more boomers are NPCs than X or millennials. Even the laziest, drifting boomers ended up with a decent house and retirement. We are in a depression right now. The only reason it's not called that is because the wealthy have never been richer. They are doing fantastic. But for the working class it is exactly what a depression feels like. The definition of a depression did not change. The people writing the definition did.
