@rupasubramanya What you call "benefit" is actually called trade which helps both sides, India benefits so does USA.. Regarding high Indian tarrifs, they are non negotiable in dairy and agriculture which you should understand better, Canada has same red lines..

I do think that that Modi recalibrating the relationship towards Putin and Xi and away from Trump is pretty ballsy. Having said that, Trump is correct that India is highly protectionist and the truth is with all protectionism, it's self-harming. It's also true that Indians have benefited enormously from access to the US labor market at lower wages that Americans would earn, and that's benefited Indians and India through knowledge transfer and remittances. All India had to do was lower the tariffs and move away from this protectionist socialist mentality that goes back to the country's founding as a socialist republic, but Modi couldn't bring himself to do that. And now India's locked in. This could backfire enormously on India, but again, Modi's got balls.

Thanks Peter! The road to peace in Ukraine does indeed run through New Delhi. At the same time, U.S. prosecutors and Canadian authorities have uncovered serious cases of transnational repression linked to Indian networks -plots to silence dissidents on North American soil and interference in democratic processes through proxy organizations. Any strategy for genuine peace in Ukraine must also address India’s role in enabling Russia’s war economy and undermining democratic institutions abroad. Confronting both with clarity and consistency is the only way forward if we want peace overseas and security at home.

1/ President Trump’s 50% tariffs on Indian imports are now in effect. This isn’t just about India’s unfair trade—it’s about cutting off the financial lifeline India has extended to Putin’s war machine. 🧵

Imagine raising your kids like this, especially in Canada. Between the Islamic radicalizion and Khalistani radicalizion, Canada has a serious growing issue of fanatics and they are raising their kids to be even more extremist and with victimhood instead of being greatful to be in Canada and contribute. We need to purge this out of our society.

Every one of these losers is Indian, except maybe the woman. Most are under 30. Very likely recent immigrants. Indians are considered model immigrants but that's changing fast. We're importing rapists, criminals and violent offenders from India. peelpolice.ca/Modules/News/i…

#WATCH | Calgary, Canada | PM Modi’s visit, Author Kushal Mehra says, "We should start with cautious optimism, because this is the Prime Minister's visit after 2015... We should be happy that this is happening. This is an ice-breaking moment in Indo-Canadian relations. But... we should be very careful about our assessment of what is happening and what could happen... Prime Minister Carney has not given us any reason not to be happy with him. If we look at his election campaign, the entire last two months, we did not see any Khalistanis' photos anywhere... We have to give him credit where it's due. He has stayed away from those elements. That's a good starting point for India.. When PM Carney came in, the hostility levels between India and Canada significantly reduced... Overall, it's all good... However, the Khalistani influence over the body politic of Canada is significant and they will try to put pressure on the Canadian political class..."

In response to Global News reporting today that an Indian agent had former NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh under close surveillance prompting police protection, the World Sikh Organization says "that's absolutely unprecedented. As far as we're concerned, that's an act of war." #cdnpoli

On the anniversary of the 1984 Golden Temple assault, inviting Modi to the G7 is a slap in the face to Canadian Sikhs. NDP calls for the invitation to be rescinded. Canada must stand against foreign interference and violence on our soil. 2/ @HMcPhersonMP

I say this with lots of respect & as a member of the Indian diaspora, I believe we must engage 🇮🇳 diplomatically & directly. Allegations must be addressed, but so must 🇨🇦 Khalistan issue. Diplomacy isn’t endorsement—it’s how real accountability begins. This was the right move.

Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada. Congratulated him on his recent election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month. As vibrant democracies bound by deep people-to-people ties, India and Canada will work together with renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests. Look forward to our meeting at the Summit.

This is probably the biggest indication of just how badly the Khalistanis misplayed the last year politically. They used to be a dominant force in Canada, but now they are the outside after a failed bet on the CPC.
