In my 2+ decades of #CommunityBuilding, here's a phenomenon that I've closely observed 👉 It comes as a breath of Himalayan fresh air when you come close to an individual who belies the “rule” and contributes most generously without really expecting anything in return.

Over 20 years ago in high school, had made an attempt to create a low-poly 3D model of the Il-76 for MS Flight Simulator 2002 using 3ds Max. Thought it was lost forever, but managed to fish this forum post out using the wayback machine haha web.archive.org/web/2011031500…

We emit approx 56bn tons each year and as we transition to renewables and taper off, that will also have to be captured. Thats roughly another 3.5 trillion, each year (though it will reduce and some of this can be offset with trees) Who will pay for all this? Taxes? 🤔

There is a lot of activity around carbon capture, sequestration space. Q: who will pay for it though? Governments? There is roughly 200bn tons of Co2, of which half if required to be pulled out. It costs approx 70$ per ton of Co2. Thats 7 trillion dollars.

Wrote a custom parser for a company's helpdesk recently — all my gains came from chunking. Some LLM "cleaning" tricks: 1. Add document & section title in each chunk 2. Hint formatting in some way e.g. #, ##, or <b> <title> 3. Chunk on sections, not just new lines/para

my heart goes out to the people spending lots of $$ in ETL pipelines for retrieval systems with embeddings + vector stores only to find that the biggest cost saver is to clean their data before chunking it

@senthilnayagam Heh. didn’t know I played a part too. A good friend of mine co-wrote for the movie and was casually asking me for suggestions every now and then. So, that’s that. 😊

A garnetiferous migmatitic gneiss from the Eastern Ghats Mobile Belt, near Daringbadi, Odisha; next to the khondalite zone. Did you know that khondalite was named after the Khond tribe that inhabited the hills of this region? #geology

Some days, I feel like starting a company just to redesign the most unloved products in India: UPS inverters, water purifiers, fridges, mixers, microwaves, etc.

@vijayanands So, if you remove the cream of EV, companies, I see a lot of uptick in sales coming from T2 and T3 cities/towns. Dealership is cheaper and most don’t really ask for a prior biz experience in the space - so, a lot of shops open for EVs already.

@vijayanands Plus electricity is cheaper and distance to travel is mostly in single digits. And yes, some EVs are even cheaper than BS6 variant scooters post subsidy.

Everyone is talking EV and making vehicles and putting out pre-orders. Observing any petrol pump, it takes 3-5 mins for a vehicle to pump gas and leave. EVs are going to have range anxiety and what will alleviate that, is assured charging stations that deliver 3-5min experience.
