In a few hours I will publish about the Saudi position in the conflict and how relations with the UAE have deteriorated. The Emirates were punching above their weight with abundant financial resources and high levels of interventionism. However, new steps require far greater risks, and I have reasons to believe that the old days will not return, at least not as they were in recent times. Follow my Substack.

Repeating what I said a few days ago: Iran still has at least 30 patrol ships equipped with missiles and torpedoes, plus hundreds of other fast boats also equipped with missiles and some classes with torpedoes. Hundreds more boats have rocket launchers, many of which have already received guidance kits. It is said that Iran can operate up to 4,000 fast boats. I estimate at least 1,500, of which 300-350 are armed with missiles. Recapping: the already devastated Iranian navy still operates around 30 patrol ships, 300–350 missile boats, and about 18–22 submarines and mini-submarines.

The bad news In JD Vance’s own words, he stated that Iran has not accepted the US/Israel terms for establishing peace. But I’d like to know what kind of negotiation this is, in which terms are simply imposed. Did anyone inform the American delegation that this isn’t a surrender treaty? They seem to be living in a different reality. This is not how you negotiate peace, and this delegation certainly includes many people who know that very well. Here are 10 points explaining why Iran is not in a position to give in: 1. It controls the Strait of Hormuz, and any attempt to take it would be extremely bloody and result in heavy casualties; 2. It can close the other strait using the Houthis; 3. It has maintained a stable daily rate of missile and drone launches for several weeks, demonstrating it has a large arsenal; 4. Its ground forces still have intact equipment and high morale, especially after the failure at Isfahan; 5. No one knows where the enriched uranium is, nor is there any effective way to seize it; 6. It is Iran that is effectively sanctioning America, with fuel prices and inflation already knocking at the door; 7. It is Iran generating pressure on Trump from Gulf countries; 8. It is Iran generating pressure on Trump from its Asian and European allies; 9. Iran is well aware of the shortage of interceptors and is actively exploiting it; 10. Its air defense capabilities are gradually improving through the deployment of new equipment, showing that Iran has a long-term strategy. On the other hand, the daily bombings are steadily eroding Iranian infrastructure. The decisive factor in this war is precisely whether this resilience will prove sustainable in the long run.

The likely resolution of the conflict would be: The United States severely damages Iran’s infrastructure and oil industry. The United States withdraws from the war. An agreement between Iran and the rest of the world, including Arab countries, Europe, Australia, and others. Iran allows passage through the Strait of Hormuz with a toll. An agreement between Iran and Gulf countries. No further attacks in exchange for financial support from Gulf countries for reconstruction and joint business ventures. Israel achieves its objective: a weaker Iran and, ultimately, what it really wanted “the Venice of Arabia”, meaning influence or control over part of Lebanon.

Why Iran is Winning the War Beyond the Blast: Why Strategy, Not Firepower, is Winning the Day Asymmetric wars should not be analyzed through the lens of damage sustained, but rather by the objectives achieved. Vietnam was hit by 7.5 million tons of bombs and won the war. Afghanistan was struck by over 2 million tons of Soviet bombs and won. In the early 2000s, Afghanistan was again invaded and hit by over 200,000 tons of American bombs. Once again, it won, forcing a desperate U.S. withdrawal under the Taliban’s advance, leaving billions of dollars in equipment behind. Today, the Taliban still rule Afghanistan, just as the CPV, which won the war and unified the country, rules Vietnam. In the current war against Iran, three coalition objectives were clear: 1Dismantle the nuclear program. 2Topple the regime. 3Limit the missile program. 1. Dismantling the Nuclear Program
Not only has it not been dismantled, but the coalition is unsure of its exact location. The IAEA states there is a new facility where material was moved, but cannot pinpoint where or if it is all in one place. Furthermore, while the North Korean leader routinely fires missiles into the sea, waging a “war against Godzilla”, -Netanyahu has been doing the same on the Israeli side, but dropping bombs on rocks, as if trying to kill “The Thing” from the Fantastic Four. The fact is, these facilities built with Iranian UHPC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete) can only be destroyed with “boots on the ground” and an invasion operation that the U.S. is currently unable to execute. While the future landscape may change, the dismantling effort has failed since 2025. 2. Toppling the Regime
Israel not only had a plan for decapitation strikes but convinced the Americans that these assassinations and bombings would create the perfect atmosphere for an uprising. The plan failed. The sheer violence of the killings and bombings terrified the Iranians themselves. They even bombed the residences of regime opponents, suggesting they wanted to “clear the field” to handpick a successor. No uprising occurred. Instead, the Iranian government had a plan, establishing a chain of 4 to 7 successors for every key position. These attacks may have actually breathed new life into the Iranian theocracy. 3. Limiting the Missile Program
On March 20, Bloomberg reported that Iran has already launched over 3,000 missiles. More importantly, Iran deployed HGVs (Hypersonic Glide Vehicles), technology only Russia and China possess, demonstrating surprising technological advancement. Also on the 20th, Iran surprised again by launching missiles at Diego Garcia, located nearly 4,000 km from its territory. The missile program has not been halted; on the contrary, it appears to be expanding.
