@Chris_Dring A lot of us are interested in the business side of the industry. Sales figures can tell us alot in terms of consumer sentiment and should send signals to those that green light and set the price for these games. Nothing to be gained from hiding from uncomfortable truths.

Very much agree. Outside of the industry itself, of course (which the piece says). It’s just a points scoring exercise so that fans of one thing can try and upset fans of another.

@adz_champ @Zuby_Tech Also steam killed season pass scams, and early access rugpulls. You have to clearly state what will be in unreleased dlc or games and if you do not release the content on time or at all, steam forces a refund on their end automatically refunding a portion or all of the money

@Zuby_Tech Steam also lets you refund no questions asked if you've downloaded a game and tried it for 2 hours. It also allows you to share games with your family members on different accounts. Stop accepting bullshit.

Also, Steam does the exact same thing and checks more than PlayStation's one verification: Steam contacts the Valve server to confirm that this user has a valid license for this game (some games allow offline play, but they still demand that the last license validation wasn't too long ago). When the server confirms that the user has a valid license, then and only then does Steam launch the game executable.

I’ve been saying this since budgets hit $200M. Raising game prices to $100 isn’t the solution. It hasn’t worked, and it won’t. The problem isn’t the player. It’s how these games are being made. Studios need to get their costs, scope, and expectations under control.

All jokes aside, I think the DLSS 5 hysteria and concerns (valid/non-performative ones) will blow over once we see the tech being utilised by devs. The recency bias over "AI Slop" narratives are steering the discourse atm.
