@Todd_Spence That’s too bad because you embarrassingly misused “whomever” in an attempt to look intelligent and now you won’t see my life-saving correction.

@andddyyroox @TheExtremeMusi1 Damon Albarn wrote the lyrics after observing the hedonistic party scene on a holiday in Magaluf, Spain (a popular spot for Club 18-30-style package holidays). He described seeing young people in "tacky Essex nightclubs" meeting up, drinking, having sex

An American streamer shares his experience after having to pay $1,000 in Toronto just for his broken hand to be looked at. Him and many Americans didn’t realize free healthcare was for Canadian citizens only.

When I was in grammar school and high school, it was extremely rare for any teacher to make any reference to their personal lives. The only clue to teachers’ lives outside the classroom were the honorifics “Miss” and “Mrs,” which told you whether the teacher was married, and of course there were no such clues for male teachers. With one possible exception, I don’t recall any professor or lecturer ever talking about their personal lives, their political beliefs, their sexual orientation, or anything other than the course topic during the four years that I was in college (University of Pennsylvania, 1963-1967). (The one exception was a sociology course taught by a lecturer, who made repeated references to being from Walnut Creek, CA – references that meant nothing to me since I had never heard of Walnut Creek.) When I read online about the things that teachers at all levels now “share” with their students, I am reminded of the truth of the line, “The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.”

Trump says he was pushed to get a dog when he was elected but rejected the idea. “It’s not going to work for me… Every president's had a dog because they do it for votes. Some of them do it because they love the dog, probably most of would do it for votes… I thought it would look quite fake”

Fans of the Buffalo Sabres hockey team finished singing the Canadian national anthem after the singer’s mic failed on Tuesday at an NHL playoff game against the Boston Bruins. The Buffalo Sabres have a large Canadian fan base, as Buffalo is around five miles away from the U.S.-Canada border.

@RCsEvilTwin @krushowy @PaulCalandra @TorontoStar In Europe parents can be fined for taking their children out of school outside of the holidays. As a teacher I don’t really care if you take your kids out so long as there is no expectation that I prepare work expressly for that purpose or be expected to catch the kids up after

As more jurisdictions look at social media bans, Ontario's Education Minister says a total cell phone / social media ban in schools might not go far enough. Ultimately, though, he says the province will work with the federal government on the issue. #onpoli

@parkdaler109 @CityNewsTO As a teacher, I’m not interested in policing this initiative in any way. This is an administrative matter. The govt needs to fund a central lock up & retrieval system. They will also need to hire addictions specialists for each school.

@KRISTINENOELLE5 @TorontoStar @MikeJToronto Summary. Almost all lessons are posted on-line, grades are based on tests/assignments not being present, prefer doing school from their bed, they are stressed about being overloaded with homework making school a 7 day job so the demands on them are greater than those on adults.
