@JoshDaws The wonder of AI isn't necessarily its current form, although it has its uses. It's the fact that it's a baby technology that is rapidly improving and is going to be even more amazing just a few years from now.

I've also noticed my posture has gotten way better simply by showing up and doing the lifts. There's also some great irony in the fact that when I started deadlifts, my sore back was initially more sore. After doing it for awhile, I have no back pain at all any more. Our bodies are the only machines that I can think of that we beat them up a bit, and they get better. We really are fearfully and wonderfully made.

@darwintojesus They aren’t quite steelmanning the prayer argument lol. To discredit prayer, I’d start with understanding it first.

Your own body screams that God exists.
🍊🍊Capt'n Cornjuice🥃🥃@BoCamaro

So I build machines for a living. (Video attached) Simple to complex machines and robotics for clients who need a bespoke solution that doesn't exist. Custom automation to fit their needs. It was my career that turned me away from being Atheist. I wanted to be Atheist at one point. I tried. But my career wouldn't allow my brain to accept it. Why? Because I realized our own body is an organic machine. Light years more complex than the machines I build, but the same systems. We have a processor and sensors that can hear like microphones, see like cameras, feel like pressure transducers, taste like PH probes, and smell like chemical analyzers. We have a hydraulic system that pumps blood at a constant pressure. We have air transport devices. We have 2 seperate waste management systems and an extremely complex cascading PID system to balance all sorts of chemical processes. We have a preventive maintenance system that regenerates and rejuvenates the other systems. And all of this is packaged on a perfect structural frame to allow us to move with ease.... AND thr most vital of the systems we have, come in twos for a redundant backup. We are a machine. And just like my machines have an engineer, so do we. You'll never convince me otherwise. Now, when it comes to faith, we can be on all sorts of sides. I have faith that Christ was who he said he is. That he was who the deciples said he was. That is what I believe... But what I KNOW, is that we have a creator and we are of superior mechanical design by a master creator. Period.

@darwintojesus Additionally, our bodies are biological marvels that fix themselves and improve when we overly stress them (often intentionally). I'm amazed by this every time I exert my body painfully in exercise in order to make it a better machine than before I started.

@darwintojesus @ProphetBartEhr It's not a very good move, either, because "lacking belief that God exists" is still very much compatible with God's actual existence.

Deadlift PR today ☠️💪 470 lbs. 1x1 The road to 500 intensifies! Last week I pulled 465 and it was pretty slow so I expected today’s 470 to be a full max effort grind. BY NO MEANS!!! Had an awesome crew cheering for me. For a brief moment, I contemplated adding 10 lbs and hitting it again, but I didn’t want to compromise the rest of my training session. Decided to do the mature thing and trust the process, follow the plan. The ups and downs of a particular lift continue to amaze me. End of last year deadlifts were feeling awesome, then early this year they were feeling like garbage, and now they feel clean and tight again - back in a growth pattern. One thing is for sure: No matter the outcome, I will keep showing up, I will keep putting in the work, and I will keep giving praise and honor and glory to the King. May the Lord be praised!! #Barbell #StrengthTraining #Dominion

@xwanyex This is most obvious, I think, when you present arguments about it being murder, and they are 100% convinced it's just about controlling women's bodies.

@Timcast You have to start with a roast that isn't bitter. For me, a well brewed medium or light roast fits the bill.

The other guy in the video is just repeating classical existentialism, which posits first that life truly is chaotic and meaningless, and any "meaning" that you find is something that you create (cf. Sartre). The problem, of course, is that this definition of "meaning" isn't very deep or... meaningful. It becomes "whatever I arbitrarily commit to," which isn't profound and more an admission that nothing is actually meaningful. Any set of actions or projects, if I like them enough, would fit the definition.

This becomes clear any time you ask AI to write a joke. AI grokking what's genuinely funny is a long time coming. I think it's because recognizing humor requires a mind/body connection that experiences, or can imagine experiencing, unexpected irony, and the final "source of truth" on funniness is the actual experience. This is a step beyond pattern recognition and predictive emulation.

Kind of annoys me that when I have Claude check for typos in a Bee article I wrote it then throws in an opinion on the piece. "That final callback joke really lands." You don't know that! I know that's still beyond your ken.

@DonaldJeffery1 @HollyBell8 Simply not true. Employers, on private property, have broad discretion to tell employees this isn't allowed, for a variety of good reasons.

@afdevine_ @HollyBell8 Sure, but it's still legal. The restaurant would have to charge the employee with trespassing. They'd be allowed to leave and then subject to arrest should they return. Short of that nothing can be done.

It's not in public, it's in a private restaurant that the management can prohibit. The infraction is a poor business decision to allow this kind of filming and social media sharing in situations where there's an expectation of privacy. Ubiquity of cameras doesn't mean that it should be socially acceptable to use them invasively — especially if filming is for personal, public gain and there are security issues involved with private information being shared. Minimally, it's just very stupid for restaurants to allow this kind of thing without realizing that customers will dislike it with the heat of a thousand suns.

@afdevine_ @HollyBell8 What “infraction”? Filming in public? Happens all day, every day. Government does this, businesses, private individuals. There’s no way to live in America and not be filmed daily, and often, in public. Your awareness is astoundingly poor.
