@gp1749 Indeed, much to discuss. When you begin to plumb the depths of infinity, be prepared to have everything you’ve ever believed shaken to its core.

The Greek word for worry is “merimnao”, a combination of two words: “merizo” meaning “to divide” and “nous” for mind. Together it means a divided mind In the Bible, the word is usually translated: “worry”, “anxious”, or “care”. Scripture shows there is a godly worry that should cause us to respond in a way that is honoring to God. In 2 Corinthians 11, Paul lists a number of hardships he’s faced in his travels. It comes to a point when he says this, “And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches. (2 Corinthians 11:28)” How did Paul respond to his concerns for these churches? He wrote letters to them, visited them, or if he couldn’t visit personally, sent someone to comfort them in his place. Godly worry creates a godly response. Worry can go from godly though to sinful in how it affects us and how we respond to it. 3 times in Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus tells the crowd “do not be anxious”. The present active imperative in the Greek Indicates this is a command. Those commands were in context, sure enough, but it shows that worry and anxiety can be sinful. Sinful worry can look like. 1. Your thoughts are focused on controlling the future. 2. Your thoughts are unproductive (caught in a spin cycle). 3. It controls you instead of you controlling it. 4. It causes you to neglect your God-given responsibilities and relationships. 5. It starts to damage your body. 6. You start losing hope instead of finding answers. 7. You shut down and stop functioning. Worry is caused by unbelief, when we doubt that God is good or that He will provide. It also shows up when something we idolize is threatened. It is an expression of idolatry in our heart. Repentance from worry is faith and the only true and rightful object of that faith should be in Christ. So then, when circumstances present themselves, and we are faced with opportunity to act, may be in a way that is pleasing to the Lord, and may we trust Him, that through the circumstances, He will produce good for those that love Him and are called according to His purpose. He is still on His throne, He is sovereign over ALL His creation, and His heart is also for the one!

@afoolssalvation Is it wrong to say I will never lose faith. Is it a challenge to God to say I will never lose faith? With so much of my life that has passed, and everything that has passed, I can honestly say I will never lose faith in my Savior, my Maker, My Heavenly Father.

Another great quote from one of my favorites. In 1921 J. Gresham Machen warned against liberalism (the watering down and even departure from doctrine) encroaching into Christianity. A wonderful read, and as we are seeing today, such liberalism is creating what can only be described as a false version of the gospel.

In a weird way, I suppose it was fun. It was definitely painful. They don’t just spray you with OC either. After they spray you, you have to try to defend yourself from someone in a padded suit, while they hit you with a police baton (also padded for training), until you can subdue them and flex cuff them.

I never had to undergo Taser training in the military because I wasn’t in security forces, but I’d love to do it. Some of the women took it on like badasses 🔥🔥 Shoutout to all the military, police, and first responders who do this training 🔥 You all have my respect ♥️🔥

Another day, another meaningless prosperity gospel-laden platitude from Kim. What if it doesn’t? What if you get sick, lose your job or your house burns down? Whose fault is that? Is it mine because I lacked faith or didn’t tithe enough? Was I praying the wrong prayer? Not praying enough? These are all questions I had to ask myself when I was unbiblically “promised” things that would never happen. Bad theology hurts people and destroys lives. It turns God into a genie and yourself into believing you can change the will of God by your own works.

@BiblePinpoint Amen! My experience has been that my wants fall short of the gifts He has in store for me. Also, when I do receive the blessing, I find that it was the true desire of my heart all along.

@afoolssalvation If what someone wants from Him is just to have some wishes fulfilled they have an extremely limited view of how awesome He is!

Is Jesus just a genie to grant you the wants of your prayers, or is He Lord of your life, whom you submit to? Are you a fan or a follower? Do you see Him as a way to get to heaven, or as THE OBJECT of heaven…? He is the Lord of creation and all things bow to His will. Nothing happens unless He ordains it. He would be just to demand our obedience, and yet, in His grace, offers us fellowship with Him too. He owes us nothing, yet gives us eternity with Him, as co-heirs! May our refrain always be, “who am I oh Lord, that You would shine Your face upon a wretch like me”.

@1True_American_ I often find that the prayers that God delivers on, are not the ones where I try to twist His arm to give me what I want, but rather, the ones where I ask Him to show me His will for me through them. It seems when I am the one who bends, I recognize His providence.

Some of y’all say you’re “waiting on God,” but it looks a lot like staying stuck. Jesus didn’t call us to sit in fear and label it faith - He called us to move, trust and walk it out even when it’s uncomfortable. Pray, yes. But then take the step. Where in your life are you waiting when you know you should be moving?

@Maga_Pup @1True_American_ Indeed, they turn it into a statement about determinism rather than contentment. Scripture makes no promise that things will go the way we want it. It does promise though that He uses it for our good.

Adopted into the fold open.spotify.com/track/5lmwwUfi… “The ignorant do not know you. The fool rejects you. The wicked despise you. Though their evil deeds done in plain sight, though their plans appear victorious, their fall will be by their own hands. Those who oppose you will perish. Nothing can stand against your might. Who am I that I receive your anointing? Insignificant, and yet, adopted into your fold. Death was at my feet. The buzzards circled my head. You sought me in the wilderness. You allowed my parched lips to drink from springs of living water. Your own cup poured out for me. Now, all of my days, I will drink of your goodness. I will flourish in your halls for eternity. From the awe of my heart I will join the saints and heavenly host as we worship your goodness to no end”
