I finally got around to watching this from the BBC. It's very easy to make a mess of the final edit when collecting video diaries, not to mention "training" your volunteers how and what to record. But @agent_Alka and the team do a great job here. x.com/agent_Alka/sta…

Day 1309 is underway. One thousand, three hundred and nine days of Russia attempting to wipe Ukraine off the map. With even Trump saying Putin and his economy are in trouble, things seem to be hotting up for Russia. But will it last? Let's begin to find out in another daily🧵

Powerful documentary film about the resilient people of Ukraine's second city, Kharkiv, which is in the unfortunate position of being near the border with Russia and thus under constant bombardment. Do watch.

That chapter about the author's mum feeling so proud she procured an (empty) can of Coca-Cola... We used to collect paper cups from McDonald's when it just opened because they were so colourful and pretty and unlike anything you could get your hands on in the USSR.

My fave beach read this year is "Free" - a fantastic, poignant memoir by @lea_ypi about growing up around the time of the fall of the Socialist Bloc in Albania. I may be a few years younger but I found the book incredibly relatable and moving.
