@VividSportml Totally agree! There are some roles/positions that I have not refined as much yet but the key to profiling is a mix of what the player will be used for and what they can do whilst assessing whether their current team structures allows or prevents it!

@ahmedmoall That distinction matters a lot. Once something becomes part of your checklist, you can track it across players and over time. If you go looking for it, there's always a chance you'll see it because you expected to. Three years of consistency is what gives the observation weight.

I’ve had concerns for 2 years + now regarding Zubimendi’s angle bias. He should play from right side in a double pivot. Guilty of constantly shutting off his angles to connect laterally to the left side and often drawn too wide to receive. That space behind him is GAPING...
Ahmed Moallin@ahmedmoall

I don’t like Zubimendi’s positioning as a 6. Drawn wide towards ball too heavily and vacates central space. Sociedad’s shape is meant to relieve him of having to aid FBs/wide players too much but he still does it. Also don’t like how he orients to turn his back to the far side.

@umirf1 Not sure but it’s definitely worth looking at how Lens set up against them in the May fixture. Limited them to sub 10 shots and had over 20 themselves. Progression to final 3rd was very limited and Lens themselves seemed to evade their press with consistency.

@VividSportml Angle bias shows up when assessing the effectiveness of a deep lying playmaker. It’s not something you search for, it’s part of a checklist when assessing suitability for a role and something that’s been ongoing for over 3 years.

@ahmedmoall Hello the angle bias point is something that only shows up if you are watching with a specific question in mind rather than just watching the game. How often do you find that kind of positional detail actually influences a decision versus just confirming what someone thought?

In the back of my head, I've had aspirations of being a football manager one day for a while but was never sure if I'd like the training sessions mid-week, organising and leading drills. This season I've shadowed and observed training sessions at the highest level and I've realised that it's something that appeals so much to me. Incredible environment and capacity for building relationships when done right.

@4490_Elias Yep! The manner in which he lost it was crazy and it will be a blot on his record but to be in that position in the first place with that Ajax side is an achievement already.

@ahmedmoall Man almost took a dead Ajax side to the finish line that should have realistically finished 5th or 6th. Phenomenal coach

Seeing Farioli win the league with Porto and a deep European run this season is something I am not surprised by! Sure bet for any club at the moment and without a doubt one of the best coaches around.
Ahmed Moallin@ahmedmoall

Farioli’s post-game interview after 4-1 loss to Kasimpasa highlights some notes in my pre-game opp. analysis. — Kasimpasa’s vertical transition + use of wide outlets with minimal middle 3rd recycling. — Kasimpasa tendency to utilise cut-backs in final 3rd. — Mamadou Fall threat.

@HailLibertass Farioli, and a few other coaches, can suit any club so long as they’re allowed to form the model with no interference and prioritise profiles that suit their model. Any club that wants to have a possession focus model first would suit him.

Play from the left side* so he can predominantly connect with the right hand side of the pitch.

@themagic_tophat Yeah left side lol. Ideally he is far better opening up to his right side angles so yeah I meant as a left sided 6! Thanks!

@ahmedmoall Do you mean left side? He is the right side of the pivot there (where he normally plays)

@osman_c10 Around the time that the team would feel energised when a set piece was won and not when a line was broken during build up. The results usually wane off a while after the footballing idea does.

@ahmedmoall I’m tired of them making the whole Italy issue about how the entire system needs to be revamped etc etc. just play the younger players lol. That’s it. That’s how easy it is. Play them.

RE: Blaming Italian youth development for failures in the last decade. Development is fantastic. Regularly compete and beat other major nations with hoards of young stars ready to step up. They’re neglected by the first team. Development isn’t the problem; playing time is.
