Sullivan Robey will go close to claiming the Rising Star nomination for Round 8. Sully kicked a brilliant goal & claimed a goal assist along with 17 disposals (11 contested), three tackles, ten clearances - playing extended minutes on ball. There’s so much to be excited about

@Hodgjo @FlightPlanPod Tsatas is not a good enough player and doesnt fit into our system. He wins clearances thats it. He doesnt tackle or put pressure on at afl level and his form in thr VFL compared to the AFL is just so different, i dont like it.

Dyson Sharp continued to impress today, gathering a PB of 19 touches, showing some real flair at times to complement his contested strengths. That intercept mark going back with the flight showcased his fearlessness

@SilentGhost263 Positive: El Hawli. I see why he is/was getting played before Johnson, hes solid defensively. Sucks to see him out. Agree with everything else especially the midfield. I don’t like Tsatas and think that midfield looked so much better.

I have really liked the game of Dyson Sharp today. Honestly, hes the reason tsatas was dropped and it was a good thing.

Sharp has had an encouraging first quarter. He releases Saad El-Hawli with a great contested handball in heavy traffic. Second, he goes back with the flight to take a brave mark. Such a great head on this young man’s shoulders

The first most interesting thing about the Tsatas omission is that Parish was rested. The second is that no mid/mid type came in. Merrett, Duzz, Calders are the only genuine mids in the team. Good chance to see players like Roberts, ADW, Sharp or Robey in there. Silver linings

@SilentGhost263 Just like to point out i saw him at one centre bounce too. He is brilliant

ADW is a big tick so far development wise for essendon and he was awesome when few were on ANZAC Day. Side note on that last bit though, you do have another ADW Brad, his name is Sam Durham, maybe let's play him forward.

@SilentGhost263 @C_Corday I think at some point it will affect those younger guys, I mean if the senior blokes dont give a shit why should they?

@aidan_plows @C_Corday doubt that, our kids defend well already and our Captain is one of the best defenders in the comp. sure theres issues with senior players but its pretty clear they don't affect the younger guys coming through, they don't have those issues.

This loss sucks big time but it doesn't change my view on the long term, if anything it reinforces it. massive reality check of what a cohesive, well drilled and mature side can do and how a young side can capitulate. gotta keep pounding the rock, it'll break eventually.
