We truly owe so much to Trump. This man has done more to dismantle Western client states in MENA than 50 years of progressive foreign policy. And is now publically humiliating MBS & delegitimizing the gulf oil monarchies. Our decolonial hero. I can’t help that I love him & wish we could give him a third term

“He didn’t think he would be kissing my ass, he really didn’t…and now he has to be nice to me….he better be nice to me, he’s gotta be..” - Trump about MBS Trump lays out the actual relationship between USA and the Arab countries in the region.

You’re going around in circles. My point is clear, practice what you preach. May God free Palestine and be with the brave Palestinians in Gaza. Nothing is dirtier than a hypocrite, you eat from empire, work in the economy of empire, consume empire media and entertainment, and have the audacity to tell others how to live their lives. No buddy, wanna use ad hominem attacks, sure, you’re filth an a degenerate ideologue loser. Get lost.
English

@aimk27 @aphrosociety We’d leave empire but will empire leave us? People are relaxing in Cuba/gaza and empire is bothering them and you’ll open your dirty mouth to say leave empire.
English

Hypocrisy, leave empire if you don’t like empire. Practice what you preach. It’s easy to make these points behind a keyboard but quieter different when you live in the Middle East/West Asia and experience war first hand. You have no idea what you’re talking about, nor are you educated in our region, people and geopolitical history/dynamics. Never said one should love empire, I’m stating facts about MENA diaspora communities who carry an unusual amount of hatred and resentment towards the Gulf. I’m entitled to reply and give my opinion, as you are.
English

@aimk27 @aphrosociety Of course. One is only safe inside a violent empire. Doesn’t mean one should love said empire
English

That’s your opinion. Not all GCC states joined the Abraham Accords, and they are not popular at the societal level btw. Again, take it from a realist point of view, the GCC is doing what they can to protect their people, provide them with good quality of life, and defend their territories. That includes a strong relationship (political, military, economic) with the US. Then be it. You can have your opinions and throw all the adjectives you want, you’re not a GCC citizen; nor are you well-versed in their cultural, socio-political systems or societies.
English

Are you stupid? When did I say we had commonalities with the West? You brought this point up and I refuted.
Yes, we are located in West Asia.
I do not support the destruction of Gaza, and Israel is a genocidal terrorist state.
I am making a point about the GCC and US. Not Israel, fuck Israel.
Not mutually exclusive arguments my friend.
English

@aimk27 You guys have have nothing in common with the West apart from wealth. The reality is culturally, historically your compatibility is with the asian culture and value. Trumpeting support for west while they flatten Gaza does not do any favours. The face mask of the west has dropped
English

@aimk27 Well I guess then Trump must know of your culture well when he came there. That is why he saying that his ass should be licked. Grow a spine man. Call out something for what it is. I am sure you must be educated in the west that is why you have so much admiration for them.
English

Of course, the same workers who voluntarily moved to the Gulf, who for generations send remittances back home that not only feed their families as a source of livelihood (something their corrupt and background countries did not provide them) but also boosts their local economies.
By ground situation, I meant geopolitical and historical realities. But of course I see through your bias and see the point you’re making and will reply based with reason and fact.
Yes, an employee at a sandwich a shop will most likely hand the sandwich to a customer outside the shop. That’s how drive throughs work. Amazing stuff.
English

@aimk27 They -> West. No Illuminati. What makes you think I don't know what is the ground reality there. Don't the poor migrant labourers from cafeteria come out when locals honk in land cruiser to make sandwiches for them. Do I need to say more to know about the ground situation?
English

Ottoman currency, Qatar-Dubai Riyal, your point? Rupee??? You mean British-controlled colonial territory India? Yes.
We know our culture, this was clear in the World Cup opening ceremony and clear when Trump visited 2025.
Iran “helped” only when it was in their geopolitical interest to do so, only to spite the other GCC countries. In international relations there are no friends, there are state interests and strategics. The Mullah Shia regime in Iran has no affection for Sunnah or Arabs; as proven in Syria.
You’re boring and uneducated.
English

@aimk27 Wasn't Indian rupee used there in Qatar before riyals was pegged to the dollar? Before saying that you are proud of alliance with the west make sure you know what their culture is and what is yours. Know their values. Didn't Iran help you guys out with food and supplies in 2017.
English

Lol, what a warrior. “Takfiris” I already know your ethnic background and ideology. Boring and outdated. GCC citizens have it good, and Insha’Allah it will stay like that, our weapons, our alliances, our OIL, our MONEY, our education, our healthcare, our welfare, our housing, keep us happy and prosperous. Cry.
English

@plebhere @aimk27 @aphrosociety No Trump is unlikely to do a Venezuela to Qatar. Qatar will likely get its comeuppance from the Takfiris they exported turning against them after all their slaves leave because no more US military bases to spy, batter and control them.
English

What’s funny is behind the keyboard, these anti-West ‘activists’ were brought up in the West or sought refugee there, went through their education systems, work and reap the benefits of their vast economies, then point fingers to us in the GCC about being “client states”. Why impose a standard that you don’t practice yourself. Move to Cuba, or Algeria, or North Korea and see how anti-West sentiment will benefit you.
English

Who is they? The Illuminati? The EU? Britain? France? Who are you referring you? I was specific and said US. “Money bags” man this is really old talking point, ok oil and money, and? Then what? Are GCC citizens starving? Is there universal healthcare in decline? Is there world class education disappearing? Is the quality of life affected?
It’s easy to throw around adjectives, again, you don’t know the reality on the ground, you don’t know the hearts and minds of the GCC people, nor how they’re political systems historically and cultural work.
English

@aimk27 @aphrosociety There’s nowhere safer from american imperialism than in america. You can just feel the seethe emanating from this blue check chudbullah
English

@aimk27 @aphrosociety You can call me dumb as much as you want. Do you have "democracy" in the GCC? And do you know what the saviours of human rights and democracy do you your countries if you don't "kiss their ass"? Think again my friend are you really proud to align with west that has no moral/value
English

Who told you that GCC citizens are actively seeking Western style democracy. You’re being hypocritical in your arguments, why would the GCC impose a Western-style political system if they have their own native portal systems and social contracts and understandings with their people? Don’t you see the irony in your arguments? So they SHOULD impose a western style of governance? To please who? You??? At the request of who???? You????? I’ve thought a thousand times, trust me, I live in the GCC it is my homeland, and you are commenting on a topic you have no educated opinion on my friend. Good day to you.
English

Lol, comparing Venezuela to the GCC is crazy work. The GCC never had the rogue status of Venezuela, again, a misinformed and illiterate take. The only thing they have in common is energy. Different political systems, different neighborhoods, different geopolitical issues, different peoples, different cultural different history. Pulling a “Venezuela” as a gotcha is dumb. And it’s not Trump who personally spearheaded the war and it’s pulling the strings, it’s the terrorist entity of Israel. The Gulf got dragged into the War it did not participate in.
English

@aimk27 @aphrosociety Keeping being proud of the West until he does a Venezuela to you guys. Good luck. It is also evident that he couldn't care less with his defence of the Gulf countries vs Israel.

A member of an offshoot of the Jewish Defense League — designated by the FBI as a "known violent extremist organization" — was allegedly building explosive devices to target the home of Nerdeen Kiswani in a chilling act of political violence. The defendant reportedly planned to flee to Israel following the attack.
This comes amid an alarming rise in threats and violence across the country targeting Palestinian human rights advocates.
I am thankful that the NYPD and FBI thwarted this plot, which could have endangered Nerdeen’s life and those of other New Yorkers.
Let me be clear: We will not tolerate violent extremism in our city. No one should face violence for their political beliefs or their advocacy. I am relieved that Nerdeen is safe.
Our city must meet hate with solidarity, and meet fear with an unshakable commitment to justice and to one another.

Breaking News: Law enforcement officials are said to have disrupted a plot to assassinate Nerdeen Kiswani, the leader of one of New York’s most active pro-Palestinian protest groups. nyti.ms/4bGRsry

This is an arrogant and ignorant claim. Very disappointing from someone who has for years advocated for various Arab causes like the Palestinian cause. Let’s take Kuwait as an example (comparable to other GCC states).
Kuwait formed organically starting in 1718 (308 years ago) when Sheikh Sabah I was elected as Chief of Kuwait by local tribesmen and merchants. There was a social contract that Al Sabah would rule, Al Jalahamah would control maritime affairs, and Al Khalifa would be in charge of defence of the then city-Emirate. Power was shared between the three different factions of the Utub clan, who migrated from Al Zubarah (north of Qatar) and later whom founded modern Bahrain (1783). This is well-known, and Google is free, George. This was also long before Britian arrived in the Gulf, and way before modern Iraq existed as a political entity (then being part of Ottoman vilayets of Basra, Mosul and Baghadad).
Various Ottoman, British, European, Persian, Chinese and Russian diplomatic and military archives/records prove that Kuwait was always autonomous. Nation states, in the Westphalian sense, barely existed then, even in wartorn Europe. However, Kuwait existed as a separate political entity with distinct local identity and people who share a common language, culture, heritage and religion. This clearly fits the defition of a modern state provided by Weber: a “human community that successfully claims the monopoly of the legitimate use of physical force within a given territory”.
Even when Kuwait was a British protectorate, it always existed as a self-governing poltical entity. The British recognized the ruling family and Kuwaiti indigenous community, Kuwaitis recognized that, Kuwaits neighbors (Al Saud dynasty) recognized that, Persia recognized that, this is a well known fact. The borders of Kuwait were clear, its national symbols were clear, its army and sense of identity were clear. As a matter of fact this borders were finalized in the 1920s, 40 years before the Era of Decolonization and end of British protectorate status. Kuwait always existed.
It is by no means an artificial bastard state like that of modern Israel, which was created by terrorist East Europeans (Haganah, Irgun, Lehi, funded by their various criminal patrons) fleeing from European ghettos after years of European oppression, slaughter and racism. It was formed by pillaging, maiming and raping Palestine.
Again, very disappointing from Galloway. What’s more disappointing is the condescending British-colonial era language used in this tweet which stupidly suggests that Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE are feeble backwards Eastern (Oriental) countries that only exist because the West (Uncle Sam) brought them into existence. A Orientalist, uneducated and illiterate take. These countries have hundreds of years of history, their ruling families controlled their territories for hundreds of years continuously, their people understood and accepted the social contract (even in instances of social unrest).
Kuwait City existed hundreds of years ago, so did Manama, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Kheimah to name a few. British protectorate status that ended in the 1960s for Kuwait and 1970s for the rest of the GCC states does not mean they did not exist as distinct autonomous self-ruling entities/Sheikdoms. It is not mutually exclusive that colonialism existed and these countries existed hundreds of years before the arrival of Europeans.

George Galloway@georgegalloway
Kuwait was stolen from Iraq by the British. Bahrain was stolen from Iran by the British. The UAE was stolen from Saudi Arabia by the British. A clear enough pattern. These thefts may well be reversed in the coming weeks…
