Not only are Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal, the violence and displacement faced by Palestinians are inhumane and abhorrent. These actions by the state of Israel continue to undermine peace, stability, and the prospects of a two-state solution. Canada, alongside Australia, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, calls for an end to settlement expansion, accountability for settler violence, and full investigations into allegations involving Israeli forces.

The abominable treatment of civilians aboard the flotilla, including that which is documented in footage shared by Itamar Ben-Gvir, is unacceptable. Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs has directed officials to summon the Israeli ambassador to demand assurances regarding the safety and security of Canadians involved. Canada has already imposed strict sanctions on Mr. Ben-Gvir, including asset freezes and a travel ban, in response to his repeated incitement of violence. The protection of civilians and respect for human dignity must be upheld everywhere, at all times.

After Israel began expunging humanitarian organizations in Gaza for failing to comply with new rules, a Doctors Without Borders team was left scrambling to establish a permanent clinic. Read about how Israel’s new restrictions on N.G.O.s make it even more difficult for humanitarian aid to reach Gazans: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/huUHZP

Pride is a promise — that every Canadian can live safely, openly, and proudly as themselves. On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we recommit ourselves to fight for the dignity, security, and equal rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada and around the world.

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: nytimes.com/2026/05/11/opi…

Congratulations to @AHSANULHAFIZ2 He’ll be a great candidate and I’m going to help make him an @OntLiberal MPP - and so should you. But I’m going to do something I never do - get some pent up feelings out, as a young person who’s worked his ass off for this party since 2019 and seen nothing but losses: First: 19 votes is a gut punch to the folks who I know worked SO hard on @NateForOntario’s campaign. You knew the risk, and I commend you for the work and dedication you put in. Whether you supported him or not, when @NateForOntario took the leap and said “I’m in, I’m doing this” in SSW, I was happy that finally, somebody that said they wanted to lead this party, was actually decisive and tried rocking the boat. As a young person, I am so tired of watching the refusal to be creative in this party and the fear of out thinking outside the box because “this is how it’s done”. No matter what you did in the past, this party hasn’t been a winner in 12 years. That being said, everyone has the right to run where they want to represent, and I’m happy we had so many people jump in… …but for the love of god people, grow up and start supporting each other. I am so sick of the petty infighting and immature mud slinging. I have been so deeply embarrassed by the way “supporters” of this party have acted over the last couple of months - people from every campaign, and in every camp. I’m tired of the Twitter warriors and the faultfinders who continue to tear us apart from the inside. I’m seeing adults act like children online… and for a party that needs to attract more youth? What young person would want to sign up when these are the people we have to inspire them and to pass the torch?? This party will continue to fail while we bitch and complain at each other on Twitter and the other parties will sit and laugh while we tear ourselves apart. Grow up, get serious and let’s be winners for once - because right now we’re all acting like losers. #onpoli

History will not look kindly on those who remained silent or indifferent to the plight of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Agnes Callamard@AgnesCallamard

Distressing, revolting. And now multiply this by thousands times. This is the ordeal lived by Palestinians in the West Bank days in, days out. Israel authorities acting in complete impunity. Many thanks to @Channel4News for their journalism, reporting on the daily violence, on all the lives being cut short by Israel's unlawful occupation, apartheid and regime of impunity.
