@DisabledStem I include my Twitter account at the bottom right of my poster, and my email bottom center.

@mmcr @koutropoulos It could depend on when registration is made available; I‘ve requested syllabi this way for Fall since registration starts in late Spring. This would be especially important for courses with a small class size, where I‘d need to decide the usefulness of a waitlist.
English

@koutropoulos Someone must get a lot of these requests to be so annoyed by them. I wonder if they're coming from students or administration? Because I've never met a student who goes around asking for syllabi 4 months before a class starts
English

@KSchaferPhD My advisor prefers Results, Methods, Discussion | Intro, Abstract. (RMDIA or RMIDA)
I prefer to write Intro, Methods | Results, Discussion, Abstract. (IMRDA or IRMDA).
But the intro is important for me as a relatively new scientist to understand the field.

All that means I'll be recruiting lab managers & other members soon!
In the meantime, shoot me an email (stephanie.noble@yale.edu) if building computational & statistical tools for precision neuroscience research🧠 sounds exciting to you

@BrunaLab One of the first author responses I ever received as a reviewer was essentially “we didn’t run stats because we didn’t compare groups [but have several pages of graphs comparing groups] and validation isn’t needed because we just wanted data” - glad to see it isn’t just me!

@m_wall Is it an issue of not being able to touch type, or is it just that the person has far more practice with texting instead of typing? Especially if they’re able to use texting shorthand (which may feel more unnatural typing out).
English

It has always boggled my mind that kids aren't taught to touch-type in school. It's really not that difficult. Couple of weeks practice and pretty much anyone can do it.

I learned yesterday while talking to one of my students that she takes notes on a Google Doc on her PHONE! When I asked why, she said that she was a slow typer and writer, but she can text really fast. 🤯 Has anyone else experienced this? #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter

@bttyeo I’ve only reviewed for journals using the ScholarOne Manuscripts page, but: it’s easier to read and print comments that way. The text box is harder to read and printing looks odd.
When I get feedback, I like to have a hardcopy to cross out parts I’ve finished, like a to-do list.
English

@rdpalacio My lab does Figures-Results-Methods-Discussion-Intro; I think it‘s a good model if you‘re already familiar with the literature, but as a grad student I find that writing an Intro first gives me a solid foundation for understanding everything else.

Write your next scientific paper with the writing backwards technique.

@hannahkloo Chronic insomniac here!
If possible, try to get a multiple sleep latency test done to rule out narcolepsy (there are different things to do if you get that diagnosis)
For energy, I both take Rx (NDRI+SSRI), and get sunlight to my eyes in the morning to help my circadian rhythm

People have been asking - why are we worried about gusts of wind when the SLS rocket is designed to blast us to the moon?
Direction of force matters.
