Search is full of ads and wrong answers. Every other email is an ad. Prime Video charges you and shows ads. Paramount? Ads. Peacock? YouTube? Hulu? Ads followed by more ads. Netflix full of ads. Meta and X, every other thing is an ad. Pinterest is nothing but ads. AI is in everything. AI finishes sentences incorrectly and won’t stop. AI reads your email and search history to target you with more ads. Every time you open an app or visit a site there’s an update making it worse. In a hurry? First, click here to agree to terms you don’t have time to read and must accept. You need an account to do that. Change your temporary password. Enter your 2FA code. Check your email and enter that code. Now use a passkey. Your password is too simple to remember. Change it. No, not like that. Now log on. Enter your 2FA code. Check your email for a code… Welcome back! We’ve updated our terms of service and privacy policy (you have none). Subscribe to the site. Subscribe to Netflix. Subscribe to toilet paper. Subscribe to these groceries. Pay a membership fee for the right to subscribe then tip your driver who delivers the subscriptions your membership lets you subscribe to. Time to work? We’ve got to update your laptop and will slow down everything you do until you agree to update. But first, click here to agree. Update installed — your laptop’s broken now. It doesn’t matter, since your boss just replaced you with AI. Go to your phone to complain on social media. Wait, your phone needs an update so we can add more AI. Click here. Oh sorry, your phone can’t handle this update. Now it’s useless. Go get the newest phone. Here’s a text from a friend, an email, a voice mail they left three days ago but you didn’t see until now because of sync problems with the cloud. It’s their GoFundMe. Their MLM. Their Patreon. Never mind, you didn’t respond to their text within 9 minutes and now you’re no longer friends. They blocked you. Make new friends. Download this app to find people in your area. In your neighborhood. On your street. Two doors down from you. Do you know this person yet, we think you’d get along. You need an account to use this app. That username is taken. Enter a password. Not that one, you used it on another site. You need to be connected to WiFi to download the app. Allow the app to connect to other devices on your network. Allow the app to access your contacts, know your precise location, store your credit card details. Oops, sorry, we got hacked now all that info is available on the web. There’s a class action suit. You can join. It’ll take a decade to get your $3.73 share of the ten billion settlement. We’ll send it via PayPal or deposit it to your bank, just tell us those details. Oh no, another hack. That info is circulating now, too. Here’s a spam call, a spam email, a spam text. Why are you angry? Why are you talking about getting rid of your phone? Why don’t you like AI, it lets us make all of this easier? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? This is progress. You’ll be left behind. Do you want to be left behind? Do you???

@thisistechtoday @bryan_johnson When I did research a month or two ago Function had more general biomarkers and seemed like a better deal, but Blueprint has some specialty ones. It would help if they would compare to it directly on the site though

@bryan_johnson What makes this different than Function Health? Has the same pricing, seems to have the same number of biomarkers (both say 160+), and both offer 2 tests a year for the price.

You can now get your blood work at cost. We launched a biomarkers testing platform. I make $0 on it. Blood testing needs to be more accessible. Instead, we wait until we get sick. And in the meantime, companies profit when you’re sick. It's messed up. > get tested > find what needs attention > implement protocols > test again Get ahead of unwelcome surprises.

@thdxr he wrote most of it with just GStack and not even God Mode, with Super Ultra God Mode this wouldn’t have happened

@thdxr @mntruell They would never, only reason I pay for Cursor at this point is Cursor Tab. So as soon as someone else has competitive autocomplete, they are going to get a lot of cancelled subscriptions

@PetrusTheron yep, docker GH actions caching is pretty awesome, consolidating steps probably would save 30s each simpler pipeline but I was just able to take a 15min build down to 45s or so with the right separate cache layer for deps vs. app code

our builds & deployments from main to staging k8s are too slow, like ~20 minutes, which is crazy for me clj / cljs Electric production artifacts take a long time, mainly because fetching dependencies & building docker images how can we speed it up? combine build & image steps? more deps caching?

@ahmed1hsn @dustingetz that’s my experience to date, even though Rama is implemented / greatly benefits from using Clojure, you’re more likely to interface with it through Java due to the limited popularity of Clojure

@dustingetz Clojure provides primitives to build higher level abstractions for applications development?🤔

Hi, my name's Michaël Trazzi, and I'm outside the offices of the AI company Google DeepMind right now because we are in an emergency. I am here in support of Guido Reichstadter, who is also on hunger strike in front of the office of the AI company Anthropic. DeepMind, Anthropic and other AI companies are racing to create ever more powerful AI systems. Experts are warning us that this race to ever more powerful artificial general intelligence puts our lives and well being at risk, as well as the lives and well being of our loved ones. I am calling on DeepMind’s management, directors and employees to do everything in their power to stop the race to ever more powerful general artificial intelligence which threatens human extinction. More concretely, I ask Demis Hassabis to publicly state that DeepMind will halt the development of frontier AI models if all the other major AI companies agree to do so.

Hi, my name's Guido Reichstadter, and I'm on hunger strike outside the offices of the AI company Anthropic right now because we are in an emergency. Anthropic and other AI companies are racing to create ever more powerful AI systems. These AI's are being used to inflict serious harm on our society today and threaten to inflict increasingly greater damage tomorrow. Experts are warning us that this race to ever more powerful artificial general intelligence puts our lives and well being at risk, as well as the lives and well being of our loved ones. They are warning us that the creation of extremely powerful AI threatens to destroy life on Earth. Let us take these warnings seriously. The AI companies' race is rapidly driving us to a point of no return. This race must stop now, and it is the responsibility of all of us to make sure that it does. I am calling on Anthropic's management, directors and employees to immediately stop their reckless actions which are harming our society and to work to remediate the harm that has already been caused. I am calling on them to do everything in their power to stop the race to ever more powerful general artificial intelligence which threatens to cause catastrophic harm, and to fulfill their responsibility to ensure that our society is made aware of the urgent and extreme danger that the AI race puts us in. Likewise I'm calling on everyone who understands the risk and harm that the AI companies' actions subject us to speak the truth with courage. We are in an emergency. Let us act as if this emergency is real.

@nvdawhale genuine question, when the dust settles shouldn’t treasuries all trade very close to 1x MNAV? If you’re bullish ETH and $SBET is at 0.7x MNAV or something isn’t it a better buy than spot ETH? Saylor was ahead of ETFs, that’s the only reason I can see why $MSTR had a premium

All projects must have one leader, who has taken as much time as is required to figure out the ideal direction for it. But managers only sit in meetings, no thinking time: the result is bells and whistles, full steam ahead into the abyss, as long as the paychecks keep coming in.

This isn’t a full panacea, because many product backends need to integrate with many other systems that are outside of your control / this simplified model. But Rama still represents a huge leap forward once the AI dev path + frontend integration becomes streamlined.

structures, the current level of AI could do *much* better with it and the developer could give it much more leeway. A “stateless” backend is event sourcing + materialized views. The only system delivering on this vision is @redplanetlabs Rama and it deserves more attention.

AI for building frontends mostly works because you have one standard (React) which is a stateless function (backend manages state). As long as f(x) = y, you don’t have to give a damn about the implementation of f(x), or if the code is messy, it works and that’s good enough.
