NEWS: Wisconsin sophomore Jack Robison is entering the transfer portal, he told @LeagueRDY. The 6-foot-6 wing out of Lakeville, Minnesota played two seasons in Madison and is a former four-star recruit out of high school. Appeared in 17 games for the Badgers this season.

Gopher hockey fans are so hilariously delusional and living in the past. The Gopher hockey job isn't nearly as sexy as it once was. Hell, Duluth has won three nattys since the last time the Gophers did it.

@Mariucci_Guy I mean is this not one of the guys we should cut loose? He will be a junior and he is still a turnover machine without the supposed offense. I had hopes this year, but is he a top 4 D on a decent team let alone a good team? They need to bring in at least 2 D from the portal.

@FutureGophers @DTAthletes And I do not really mean to complain about that. DTA is great for football and basketball. It is hard to focus on many different sports. Just need a hockey group to support and promote the NIL group and it will be fine.

@CMielock @YouthHockeyHub Doubt they ever talked to him. That was floated out yesterday because Coyle finally realized people are not happy with Minnesota nepotism. This is not football or basketball. We should get the absolute best and not settle just because they are an hour away.

@Mariucci_Guy Love the optimism, but with the people that are "advising" Coyle I am sure they have their guy. The extensive search that landed them with a guy an hour away. The Minnesota nepotism did not allow to get one of the best candidates.

I have utmost respect for Grant Potulny and Brett Larson, and believe either one would be a success as the next #gophers men's hockey coach. With that said, I was amazed (not in a good way) to learn that as of this evening, Mark Coyle has not spoken to Pat Ferschweiler.

@MSPAthletics I hear ya, but it could be very similar to Motzko. Was he a Gopher fan growing up, but the U did not recruit him? That did not stop Bob wanting to be a Gopher if he could have. Maybe it is the same? WMU has been great with him, but it is still not the Minnesota

IF there is any truth to this, there is 100% enough money to be found to buy him out.
I just don’t see him leaving his alma mater after finding success and the university heavily investing in the program’s future.
They literally just got him a new arena for ‘27.

YHH getting a lot of the same smoke on the WMU coach. The biggest hurdle is not annual pay or want. The school can pay him, he wants to come to Minnesota. There is a $1.6 Million buyout that is sitting on the table. Can the U afford it? Don’t be surprised if the U waits for the Broncos’ season to end before an official announcement.

@four7cap @Buccigross Complete rebuild? I mean they were a very young team and some kids that did not pop right away. They have top 10 recruiting classes like always lined up for the following years. The 2027 class probably with at least 2 first round picks. They could be next years UND turnaround

@MNState0fHockey Hmm I have to believe Pat misspoke. I do not see him actually thinking that. If Minnesota is not the best fine, but no one who knows anything about college hockey would every say Wisconsin is the best job. He tends to ramble sometimes so he probably just didn't articulate well

@Grouseold @MickHatten @SCSUHuskies_MH No. Everyone was very excited about Lucia. I know some old school fans wanted Blais, but Lucia was the hottest young coach in the NCAA's. Brought CC back from the dead. Larson seems like a good guy, but St. Cloud has only went down since he took over.

Larson has a good record at SCSU, add in two NCAA titles as assistant at UMD.

@EvanBland_ @JayCuda High Points leading scorer was 9/23 on fg's. As a team they shot 42% and then 38% on 3's. Here is the key stat your blinders will not admit...Wisconsin ONLY shot 12 free throws. In the B1G regular season they had 4 games with over 30 yep 30 free throw attempts!!

@RTBGophers10 I love Gopher Hockey. However, the biggest hire in bigtime NCAA sports will always be football followed by mens basketball. That is where the revenue comes from. That unfortunately, is why Coyle is clueless for hockey. That would be the same at literally every B1G school.

Been getting word he hasn’t been on campus since Tuesday with the Tournament starting (He is on the Tournament Committee)
Has he really begun the process?
Seems like he is half-assing one of, if not the, biggest hire in his Gopher Tenure.

University of Minnesota AD Mark Coyle has begun the process to hire a new men’s hockey coach. According to sources, interviews have been lined for this weekend with St. Cloud State coach Brett Larson, Hartford Wolf Pack coach Grant Potulny and Augustana coach Garrett Raboin
