We're proud partners of @GoodThingsFdn to together #FixTheDigitalDivide as high digital engagement can save people £900 more a year. Today, we attended their reception at the House of Lords alongside other partners to hear about the range of work being done at their hubs. It was also a great opportunity to showcase how #MoneyWellness donate old equipment to the National Device Bank to support digitally excluded people. We do this because 2.4 million households can't afford their mobile phone contract, highlighting the need for good debt advice.

Wonderful to campaign for our excellent @MKConservatives Councillor @maneeshverma with Transport Minister @AnthonyBrowneMP , @iainastewart @ajrolfe3 and @DelfaniDr ; great feedback at the doors.

A statement: My Labour parliamentary opponent has had to apologise over failure in MK. 🔴 (Long Read) Last week, news broke out how this year, the independent Housing Ombudsman Service ruled that the Labour-led Milton Keynes Council has acted with 'severe maladministration’. This has compelled my opponent in the next general election, Emily Darlington, who is also responsible for the housing portfolio, to apologise and for the Council to rightly compensate the impacted residents. It is clear from the Ombudsman report that the local authority has not behaved in a reasonable or competent manner over a period of years. The findings are extremely damning, with a long list of repeated 'failures'. The Council has rightly been reprimanded for the 'extremely distressing situation' of the residents involved. It is particularly unacceptable that during this process, they 'did not express any empathy or sympathy towards the resident'. They were also slow to cooperate with the Ombudsman, missing multiple deadlines, including one by over two months. This chaos is made more alarming because the Bletchley Councillor, who is the Cabinet Member responsible for housing, is vying to be the next Labour MP Milton Keynes Central, and has boasted her record on housing as part of her pitch. The complaint to the Ombudsman was formally given in Jan 2022, well within her tenure in post. She was right to apologise. An investigation needs to be had to better understand if other residents are also suffering from this Labour and Lib Dem's Council's handling as a landlord. This story is being spoken about on the doorstep.
