A YELLOW GATE When my late Mum and Dad (and toddler me) moved into their bungalow in September 1968 Dad painted the front gate yellow, my Mum’s favourite colour. When I acquired the bungalow in 2023 the yellow had disappeared under numerous coats of darker paint. But today, thanks to Mike, my good friend and neighbour, Mum’s gate has been restored. As he worked on it, Mike found the original paintwork, still there, an echo of those golden days. And then he painted the gate anew and hung it today, in the April sunshine. A simple act of kindness and remembrance that means the world to me.

@VinnieSull1van I LOATHE the blight of graffiti tags in London but I personally love walking through that tunnel and looking at the ever-changing kaleidoscope of colours and illustrations. I'm not convinced returning it to brick would lower general vandalism and graffiti.

The Graffiti Issue Though opinions will differ, the fact is that the overall appreciation of art in various forms hasn't only decreased among our youth, but the adults who direct them. Before attacking this statement or video, try to appreciate that those of us who oppose such activities are entitled to our opinion. I despair. "Simply" use AI to replace human creativity after stealing the work of real authors to train the bots and @EducationScot will create a new generation of children who believe digital low grade slop is of equal value to art. For shame.
