Throwback to that one time I accidentally ran a study on myself and took 13x the recommended amount of creatine for 3 weeks straight without even realizing it Every week in the gym I was progressing like crazy. Squat was going up like never before and the fullness in my physique was unreal My training partner pulled me aside one day and said, “bro what are you doing at home? I’ve never seen you progress like this” Went home that day, was about to take my creatine and noticed the serving looked massive. Something was definitely off with the scooper but I just never cared enough to look Grabbed my scale to check 65 grams. Recommended dose was 5g a day. They must’ve thrown in a protein powder scooper by accident What a time that was 😭

NEW: Over $50,000 has been raised for a Domino’s delivery driver who went out of his way to get his customer's Diet Coke when he realized that Domino's was out. 68-year-old Dan Simpson of Boise, Idaho has gone viral for his kind act. "[Dan] had stopped at the store himself to pick up Diet Coke for us. On a busy Friday night. During deliveries. Completely out of his own time and effort," the customers said on GoFundMe. "[Dan's] been working at Domino’s as a second job for 14 years… and he’s retiring in just a few weeks..." About $50,000 has been raised for Dan so far. Amazing. Video: katey_93 / tt.

If tech companies layoff everyone, who exactly do they think will be their customers? Our entire economy is built around labor. About ten guys (a couple girls) took it upon themselves to completely wipe out our entire economy without any discussion. Elon, the Anthropic guy, Sam Altman. It's insane when you think about the audacity.

Official Layoff
Official Layoff@LayoffAI·
Meta just showed every CEO in America exactly how to replace their workforce. They laid off 700 people this week. Plan 15,000 more ASAP. Now, leaked internal documents reveal what comes next. Meta now requires 65% of its engineers to write 75% or more of their code using AI by mid-2026. Their Scalable Machine Learning org has a target of 50-80% AI-assisted code. Across Messenger, WhatsApp, and Facebook, 55% of all code changes must be “Agent-Assisted.” 80% of mid-to-senior engineers must adopt AI tools like DevMate and Google Gemini. Starting this year, every Meta employee is graded on “AI-driven impact” in their performance reviews. It is now a core expectation. If you don’t use AI, you don’t advance. Meta is the first major tech company to formally tie promotions to AI adoption. They built an internal game called “Level Up” that rewards employees with badges for hitting AI milestones. They rolled out an “AI Performance Assistant” to help write reviews. They are rebranding engineers as “AI Builders” and reorganizing teams into small “AI-native pods.” Zuckerberg said projects that once required large teams can now be handled by one “very talented” person. Read that again. One person replacing a team. Here’s why this matters beyond Meta. Every CEO in tech watches what Meta does. When Meta cut 11,000 in 2022, the rest of tech followed within months. When Meta tied performance reviews to AI, KPMG did the same thing within weeks. Accenture just told senior staff that AI tool usage will determine who gets promoted to leadership. The playbook is spreading. The pattern is clear. Step one: mandate AI adoption internally. Step two: measure how much output AI handles. Step three: when AI handles 75% of the work, you need 75% fewer people to do it. Step four: cut. Block already did this. Jack Dorsey cut 40% of the company and told shareholders “intelligence tools have changed what it means to build and run a company.” The stock surged 24%. Wall Street doesn’t reward hiring. It rewards headcount reduction. Every earnings call where a CEO says “AI is making us more productive” is a preview of the next layoff announcement. Meta is spending $135 billion on AI this year. They are simultaneously cutting thousands of workers. Those two facts are not in tension. They are the same strategy.
Official Layoff@LayoffAI

Are you paying attention to what Meta quietly did this week? 700 laid off. 15,000 more expected, as per Reuters. Same week, 6 executives got $921M in stock options at current market cap, and up to 2.7B as it goes higher. 700 lost their jobs. Six got 100s of millions in bonus.

These absolutely insane LLM wizards are now experimenting with Turboquant not just to compress KV cache, but now, the entire model itself. This test showed a >50% reduction in memory footprint, allowing for Qwen 3.5-27B to be run on a single RTX 5060 @ 3.15bit precision - with no apparent degradation. This just goes to show that we're likely nowhere near full optimization for existing models. We are likely <1yr away from running big models on smol devices with minimal consequence. And during that time, they will only get better and better. What a time to be alive.
Markets & Mayhem@Mayhem4Markets

TurboQuant is looking pretty solid. 🔥 > Original idea was to use it just for KV cache where context tokens are stored > Now it is expanding to be used with models > On Qwen 3.5-27B it shrinks the model down to 12.9B > 6X memory savings vs 16-bit precision > Stays accurate

Sorry for posting this again, I'm still processing it: It'd cost >>> $743k per year <<< to run Opus-4.6 fast-mode nonstop Literally my company cannot afford a single person using it for daily coding. And that's a shame because the experience is truly magical. I've spent the last 2 days using it on Pi (nearly $500 gone 💀), and it was the first time I kinda got into the flow state while using an agent, because the feedback is just so fast. This is not something I ever experienced before, definitely not with GPT 5.4's own fast mode. I can't wait for this kind of super fast, super high intelligence to be available for a reasonable cost...

Three Charged with Conspiring to Unlawfully Divert Cutting Edge U.S. Artificial Intelligence Technology to China “The indictment unsealed today details alleged efforts to evade U.S. export laws through false documents, staged dummy servers to mislead inspectors, and convoluted transshipment schemes, in order to obfuscate the true destination of restricted AI technology—China,” said John A. Eisenberg, Assistant Attorney General for National Security. “These chips are the product of American ingenuity, and NSD will continue to enforce our export-control laws to protect that advantage.” 🔗: justice.gov/opa/pr/three-c…

People who look down on PIRACY live in a very comfortable bubble. PIRACY helped and shaped a lot of movie fans from around the world, not everyone can afford spending 25 dollars for a HD/UHD movie or cinema tickets. The 1st movies I owned were bootleg VHS tapes (AKIRA, a ton of anime from the 80's, RoboCop, A L I E N, etc), those bootlegs made me the movie fan I am today. In South America, piracy is king, there is not a strong distribution for (legal) physical media, in PERU for example, you have stores that carry (bootleg) physical media, they even carry movies the US have no physical release or availablility on streaming. EWatching movies should not be limited to 1st world countries, everyone deserves to enjoy movies/series no matter where you are.

.git/info/exclude is one of my favorite git features, but I'm always surprised when I talk to people who never heard about it. It basically allows you to add stuff to .gitignore without modifying the file. Great for ad-hoc ignoring some files created during debugging.
