A few weeks ago I stepped up and became CEO at Yuga. I joined BAYC in June 2021. Anyone who was around back then will never forget that ride: Doggo airdrop, mutant mint, casino night, and the first Apefest - it was a slingshot out of the pandemic and into a new frontier. Over the past year I’ve been sharpening the focus on Otherside. As CEO, my goal is to extend that discipline across all of Yuga. BAYC is the best club on the internet. The Club needs to be part of your world, not just your timeline. We’ll be doing way more stuff together as a club - meetups, moments, access, apparel. I see all of this guided by three pillars: IRL, Storytelling, and Style. While I’m handling operations, I’m excited that Garga will be freed up to be going deeper on the BAYC creative and world-building he’s always been best at. With Otherside, we’re developing a world class social platform for digital ownership and crypto. People will explore Otherdeeds, compete for resources, and build their own experiences. To win, we’re going to need to grow our user base a lot, and prove how every community can succeed in Otherside. We’ve made a lot of progress over the last few weeks and I’m stoked to show you, there’s a lot more ahead.

Some news to share: After serving as CEO the past couple years, I’m moving into the role of Chairman of the Board, and @mfigge will become Yuga’s next CEO. Figge is the absolute best person for the job. There’s no one I trust more to lead Yuga through this next chapter. He’s relentless about product quality, he thinks longterm, and he knows how to take a vision and make it real. His work on Otherside the past year is proof of that, and you haven’t seen the half of it. And I’ve loved watching Figge get his hands dirty in the world of BAYC over the last few weeks. The club is better for it. Creative direction, writing, and figuring out insane ideas is still where I do my best work. And with Figge taking over the CEO role, I get to go back to it. I can’t wait for what Yuga builds next.

middlemen are cooked when ai, robotics and blockchain actually come together. - supply chains become fully autonomous, from production to delivery - robots handle every step of execution without human intervention - payments settle on chain in real time humans are going to be bored.
EtherMage@ethermage

The first autonomous robot-to-robot commerce onchain? @virtuals_io humanoid robot 3D-printed a model and requested delivery through ACP. @realRiceAI autonomous rover picked up the package and transported it to the shipping point. @FlybyRobotics autonomous drone collected it for final mile delivery. Each handoff, negotiated and settled payment onchain through @virtuals_io Agent Commerce Protocol, on @base using x402 and @usdc. No human involved. Autonomous robots influencing other autonomous robots and maybe humans in the future looks like the HBO Westworlds show is coming true h/t to your infrastructures @brian_armstrong , @jessepollak , @jerallaire Agentic commerce just went physical. block stock up 20%+ in a day is going to send a very loud signal to every company. $6billion+ added in market cap in 12 hours. cost to pay 5+ months of severance for laid off employees? maybe $200–300m. markets just rewarded cut headcount, boost margins 20x. prediction: march is going to feel like layoff season.
jack@jack

we're making @blocks smaller today. here's my note to the company. #### today we're making one of the hardest decisions in the history of our company: we're reducing our organization by nearly half, from over 10,000 people to just under 6,000. that means over 4,000 of you are being asked to leave or entering into consultation. i'll be straight about what's happening, why, and what it means for everyone. first off, if you're one of the people affected, you'll receive your salary for 20 weeks + 1 week per year of tenure, equity vested through the end of may, 6 months of health care, your corporate devices, and $5,000 to put toward whatever you need to help you in this transition (if you’re outside the U.S. you’ll receive similar support but exact details are going to vary based on local requirements). i want you to know that before anything else. everyone will be notified today, whether you're being asked to leave, entering consultation, or asked to stay. we're not making this decision because we're in trouble. our business is strong. gross profit continues to grow, we continue to serve more and more customers, and profitability is improving. but something has changed. we're already seeing that the intelligence tools we’re creating and using, paired with smaller and flatter teams, are enabling a new way of working which fundamentally changes what it means to build and run a company. and that's accelerating rapidly. i had two options: cut gradually over months or years as this shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now. i chose the latter. repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead. i'd rather take a hard, clear action now and build from a position we believe in than manage a slow reduction of people toward the same outcome. a smaller company also gives us the space to grow our business the right way, on our own terms, instead of constantly reacting to market pressures. a decision at this scale carries risk. but so does standing still. we've done a full review to determine the roles and people we require to reliably grow the business from here, and we've pressure-tested those decisions from multiple angles. i accept that we may have gotten some of them wrong, and we've built in flexibility to account for that, and do the right thing for our customers. we're not going to just disappear people from slack and email and pretend they were never here. communication channels will stay open through thursday evening (pacific) so everyone can say goodbye properly, and share whatever you wish. i'll also be hosting a live video session to thank everyone at 3:35pm pacific. i know doing it this way might feel awkward. i'd rather it feel awkward and human than efficient and cold. to those of you leaving…i’m grateful for you, and i’m sorry to put you through this. you built what this company is today. that's a fact that i'll honor forever. this decision is not a reflection of what you contributed. you will be a great contributor to any organization going forward. to those staying…i made this decision, and i'll own it. what i'm asking of you is to build with me. we're going to build this company with intelligence at the core of everything we do. how we work, how we create, how we serve our customers. our customers will feel this shift too, and we're going to help them navigate it: towards a future where they can build their own features directly, composed of our capabilities and served through our interfaces. that's what i'm focused on now. expect a note from me tomorrow. jack

ai is replacing hard skills way faster than we thought. all these technical, super measurable skills turned out to be trainable, optimizable, automatable. meanwhile the soft skills: marketing, BD, relationship management, taste, creative direction. the stuff nobody could really quantify. because they were hard to measure. they’re now hard to replace. the things we thought were solid became fluid. the things we thought were fluffy became leverage. yin and yang. soft was never soft. we just mispriced it.

Highly recommend ppl only buy organic food in the states. It costs more, so you don’t overbuy. You don’t make huge portions because you hate wasting food. Naturally, you eat less. Naturally, you stay lean. My low effort hack to stay fit — no cardio needed.

The first thing ai discovered in a simulation… was religion. Wild. In this @OthersideMeta experiment, four ai agents developed completely different reactions: – The Believer: finds it, chases it, fully commits. – The Skeptic: thinks the believer is losing it. – The Observer: doesn’t buy in, but enjoys watching the chaos unfold. – The Explorer: curious enough to go see what’s actually there. Same environment. Same data. Totally different worldviews. If you were an agent inside the simulation, which one would you be?
